Carbon Dioxide Fixation within Mine Wastes of Ultramafic-Hosted Ore Deposits: Examples from the Clinton Creek and Cassiar Chrysotile Deposits, Canada
Siobhan A. Wilson,Gregory M. Dipple,Ian M. Power,James M. Thom,Robert G. Anderson,Mati Raudsepp,Janet Gabites,Gordon Southam +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed account of the natural process of carbon trapping and storage as it occurs at Clinton Creek and Cassiar, including mineralogy, modes of occurrence, methods of formation for carbonate alteration, light stable isotope geochemistry, and radiocarbon analysis.

Anaerobic methane oxidation coupled to manganese reduction by members of the Methanoperedenaceae
Andy O. Leu,Chen Cai,Simon Jon McIlroy,Gordon Southam,Victoria J. Orphan,Zhiguo Yuan,Shihu Hu,Gene W. Tyson +7 more
TL;DR: The ability of members of the Methanoperedenaceae to couple AOM to the reduction of Mn(IV) oxides is demonstrated, which suggests their potential role in linking methane and manganese cycling in the environment.
Carbon Mineralization: From Natural Analogues to Engineered Systems
Ian M. Power,Anna L. Harrison,Gregory M. Dipple,Siobhan A. Wilson,Peter B. Kelemen,Michael Hitch,Gordon Southam +6 more
TL;DR: Carbon mineralization as discussed by the authors is a natural process that sequesters CO2 by reaction of alkaline earth metal bearing silicate and hydroxide minerals with CO2 to form stable carbonate minerals.

Gold biomineralization by a metallophore from a gold-associated microbe
Chad W. Johnston,Morgan A. Wyatt,Xiang Li,Ashraf S. Ibrahim,Jeremiah Shuster,Gordon Southam,Nathan A. Magarvey +6 more
TL;DR: It is reported that the gold resident bacterium Delftia acidovorans produces a secondary metabolite that protects from soluble gold through the generation of solid gold forms.

The impact of sediment fecal coliform reservoirs on seasonal water quality in oak creek, arizona
TL;DR: The results of this study show that sediment agitation by recreational activity and storm surges associated with the summer storm season are responsible for the impact to water quality and not recreational users directly, as suggested by previous studies as mentioned in this paper.
