A gemini guest triggers the self-assembly of a calixarene capsule in water at neutral pH
Carmela Bonaccorso,Carmelo Sgarlata,Giulia Grasso,Valeria Zito,Domenico Sciotto,Giuseppe Arena +5 more
TL;DR: A gemini guest having both aromatic units and negative charges induces the self-assembling of a homodimeric capsule when interacting with a positively charged calixarene at pH 7.7.

A Platinum(II) Diamino-β-cyclodextrin Complex: A Crystallographic and Solution Study. Synthesis and Structural Characterization of a Platinum(II) Complex of 6A,6B-Diamino-6A,6B-dideoxycyclomaltoheptaose
Vincenzo Cucinotta,Giulia Grasso,Sonia Pedotti,Enrico Rizzarelli,Graziella Vecchio,Benedetto Di Blasio,Carla Isernia,Michele Saviano,Carlo Pedone +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the new platinum(II) complex of 6A,6B-diamino-6A, 6b-dideoxycyclomaltoheptaose was synthesized and characterized by spectroscopy (NMR, FAB MS, UV, c.d.) and X-ray diffraction analysis.

Diaminotrehalose-capped β-cyclodextrin, a new member of hemispherodextrins: synthesis, thermodynamic and spectroscopic characterization and its exploitation in chiral electrokinetic chromatography.
Vincenzo Cucinotta,Alessandro Giuffrida,Giulia Grasso,Giuseppe Maccarrone,Antonino Mazzaglia,Marianna Messina,Graziella Vecchio +6 more
TL;DR: The diaminotrehalose-capped derivative of β-CD, a new member of hemispherodextrins, was synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy, and its stereoselective properties were exploited in electrokinetic chromatography by separating four enantiomeric pairs of dansyl derivatives of amino acids.

Amino Surface‐Functionalized Tris(calix[4]arene) Dendrons with Rigid C3‐Symmetric Propeller Cores
Giuseppe Gattuso,Giulia Grasso,Nino Marino,Anna Notti,Andrea Pappalardo,Sebastiano Pappalardo,Melchiorre F. Parisi +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a divergent synthetic protocol involving the coupling of p-nitrocalix[4]arene butanoic acid 9 with tris(4-aminophenyl)amine (TAPA), 1,3,5-tris-4-ammonophenyl-benzene(TAPB), TAPB, and 2,4,6-t tris-anilino-s-triazine (tAPT) was used to generate dodecanitro intermediates.

Synthesis, chemical characterization and biological activity of new histone acetylation/deacetylation specific inhibitors: a novel and potential approach to cancer therapy.
Ornella Pellerito,Cristina Prinzivalli,Elisabetta Foresti,Piera Sabatino,Michele Abbate,Girolamo Casella,Tiziana Fiore,Michelangelo Scopelliti,Claudia Pellerito,Michela Giuliano,Giulia Grasso,Lorenzo Pellerito +11 more
TL;DR: Preliminary evaluations on hyperacetylation state of histone H3 in tributyltin-valproate treated HepG2 cells showed an increase in Ac-H3, suggesting that the compound maintains the de acetylation inhibition activity of its ligand valproate.
