Postoperative recurrence of cystic hydatidosis.
J. Prousalidis,Christophoros Kosmidis,Georgios Anthimidis,Konstantinos Kapoutzis,Eleutherios Karamanlis,Epaminondas Fachantidis +5 more
TL;DR: Conservative surgery (removal of the cyst contents plus partial pericystectomy with drainage when necessary) plus chemotherapy and local sterilization is suggested for both primary and secondary operations and appears to achieve satisfactory longterm results.

Forty-four years’ experience (1963–2006) in the management of primarily infected hydatid cyst of the liver
J. Prousalidis,Christoforos Kosmidis,Georgios Anthimidis,Epaminondas Fachantidis,N. Harlaftis,H. Aletras +5 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that, under good perioperative antibiotic and metabolic coverage, the infected hydatid cysts have to be completely evacuated and properly drained and the application of "conservative" surgical procedures should be preferred.

Cyanoacrylate Adhesive Reduces Seroma Production After Modified Radical Mastectomy or Quadrantectomy With Lymph Node Dissection-A Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial
Kalliopi Vasileiadou,Christophoros Kosmidis,Georgios Anthimidis,Spiros Miliaras,Ioannis Kostopoulos,E. Fahantidis +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the cyanoacrylate adhesive can contribute to the reduction of seromas produced after mastectomy and subsequently decrease the duration of postoperative drainage and the frequency of seroma aspirations.

Myofibroblasts and colonic anastomosis healing in Wistar rats.
Christophoros Kosmidis,Christoforos Efthimiadis,Georgios Anthimidis,G. Basdanis,Stylianos Apostolidis,Prodromos Hytiroglou,Kalliopi Vasiliadou,J. Prousalidis,E. Fahantidis +8 more
TL;DR: The study emphasizes the pivotal role of myofibroblasts in the process of colonic anastomosis healing and provides an explanation for the reduction in the incidence of wound dehiscence after the 7th postoperative day.
Predictive value of procalcitonin for the diagnosis of bowel strangulation.
Basilis Papaziogas,Georgios Anthimidis,Ioannis Koutelidakis,Stefanos Atmatzidis,Konstantinos Atmatzidis +4 more
TL;DR: Both the quantitative assay and the semiquantitative PCT-Q test failed to show any statistically significant elevation of procalcitonin in the strangulation groups compared to those in either the control or the simple obstruction groups over time, and the PCT levels were normal in all groups, with no elevation after 30, 90, 120, or 240 minutes.
