Enhanced mechanical performance of biocompatible hemicelluloses-based hydrogel via chain extension.
Xian-Ming Qi,Ge-Gu Chen,Xiao-Dong Gong,Gen-Que Fu,Ya-Shuai Niu,Bian Jing,Bian Jing,Feng Peng,Run-Cang Sun +8 more
TL;DR: The biocompatibility test suggests that the hemicelluloses-based hydrogels exhibited no toxicity to cells and allowed cell growth, and demonstrated that the composite hydrogel have potential applications in the fields of water absorbents, cell culture, and other functional biomaterials.

Variations of lignin–lignin and lignin–carbohydrate linkages from young Neosinocalamus affinis bamboo culms
TL;DR: In this paper, three lignin-carbohydrate complex (LCC) preparations were isolated to elucidate the variations of chemical linkages during growth in the early development stages of Neosinocalamus affinis bamboo culms.

Facile synthesis of high strength hot-water wood extract films with oxygen-barrier performance.
Ge-Gu Chen,Gen-Que Fu,Xiao-Jun Wang,Xiao-Dong Gong,Ya-Shuai Niu,Feng Peng,Chun-Li Yao,Run-Cang Sun +7 more
TL;DR: These results provide a comprehensive understanding for further development of high-performance nanocomposites which are based on natural polymers (HWE) and assembled layered clays (MMT) and offer great potential in the field of sustainable packaging.
Organic/inorganic superabsorbent hydrogels based on xylan and montmorillonite
TL;DR: In this article, a unique organic/inorganic superabsorbent hydrogels based on xylan and inorganic clay montmorillonite (MMT) were prepared via grafting copolymerization of acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) with N, Nmethylenebisacryramide (MBA) as a cross-linking agent and potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator.
