Guaraná (Paullinia cupana) seeds: Selective supercritical extraction of phenolic compounds.
Leila Larisa Medeiros Marques,Gean Pier Panizzon,Bruna Aparecida Alves Aguiar,Ane Stefano Simionato,Lúcio Cardozo-Filho,Galdino Andrade,Admilton Gonçalves de Oliveira,Terezinha Aparecida Guedes,João Carlos Palazzo de Mello +8 more
TL;DR: The best conditions for the supercritical extraction of bioactive compounds from guaraná seeds, based on the content of polyphenols, epicatechin/catechin quantification, yield and operating cost, proved to be: 40% ethanol:methanol during 40min, under 40°C, and 100bar.

Larvicidal Activity against Aedes aegypti and Chemical Characterization of the Inflorescences of Tagetes patula
Letícia Maria Krzyzaniak,Tânia Mara Antonelli-Ushirobira,Gean Pier Panizzon,Ana Luiza Sereia,José Roberto Pinto de Souza,João Antonio Cyrino Zequi,Cláudio Roberto Novello,Gisely Cristiny Lopes,Daniela Cristina de Medeiros,Denise Brentan Silva,Eneri Vieira de Souza Leite-Mello,João Carlos Palazzo de Mello +11 more
TL;DR: The crude acetone extract of defatted inflorescences of Tagetes patula was partitioned into five semipurified fractions and EAF showed the highest activity with more than 50% reduction in larval population at 50 mg/L, which might have been due to the higher concentration of patuletin present in this fraction.
In vitro antioxidant potential and in vivo effects of Schinus terebinthifolia Raddi leaf extract in diabetic rats and determination of chemical composition by HPLC-ESI-MS/MS
Camila Cristina Iwanaga,Lilian dos Anjos Oliveira Ferreira,Karine Zanoli Bernuci,Carla Maria Mariano Fernandez,Fabiana Brusco Lorenzetti,Camila Caviquioli Sehaber,Flávia Cristina Vieira Frez,Sara Santos Bernardes,Gean Pier Panizzon,Giani Andrea Linde,Maria do Carmo Vieira,Jacqueline Nelisis Zanoni,Diógenes Aparício Garcia Cortez +12 more
TL;DR: S. terebinthifolia has potential for the prevention or treatment of diseases that are related to oxidative stress, such as diabetes mellitus, and in vitro analyses indicated that the hydroethanolic extract had 312.50 mg GAE/g of total phenols.
