A solder-bearing lead (310) adapted to be soldered to a conductive surface comprising an elongated body portion (320) having a solder bearing portion (327), a terminal portion (321), and a middle portion disposed between said solder-bearing portion and said terminal portion. The solder-bearing portion carries a solder mass either on a pair of projections (328) extending from one edge of said body portion and forming a gap therebetween dimensioned to receive a solder mass, or on the opposed faces of said solder-bearing portion. A region (319) of the middle portion is twisted so that the solder-bearing portion lies in a plane substantially perpendicular to the plane of the terminal portion. The solder-bearing lead can be used as an edge clip for mounting a substrate such as a printed circuit board, or as a surface-mounted lead for a substrate.

Solar panel junction box

A compliant lead clip comprises a single strip of metal bent to form a C-shaped member and an S-shaped member, the two members having a common portion. An integrated circuit chip is inserted into the C-shaped member and soldered thereto after which the lower part of the S-shaped member is soldered to the top surface of a printed circuit board whereby the chip is supported above the printed circuit board. The S-shaped member bends or twists to absorb forces which would otherwise be exerted on the solder joints as a result of warpage of the printed circuit board or temperature changes where the chip carrier and printed circuit board have different thermal coefficients of expansion.

The first angular section having a resilient cut-out connecting member forming an electrical contact and the flat section having one or more retaining slots for receiving an electronic component terminal. The junction box further includes a plate having rectangular extensions for retaining and positioning solar ribbon and cylindrical extensions for positioning the plate with respect to a base which has cylindrical receptacles for receiving the cylindrical extensions and also has a channel section for edgewise accommodation of the connecting element and compartment areas which position the diodes adjacent the respective retaining slots.

Solar panel junction box and components thereof

An electrical subassembly structure of two substrates has metalized portions located adjacent to the upper and lower edges on the back of each substrate. Clip on leads are attached to one substrate with a portion of each lead soldered to the lower edge metalized portion. The two substrates are electrically and mechanically joined by soldering upper edge metalized portions together and soldering the lower edge metalized portions of the other substrate to the lead portions.
