Effects of Tezosentan on Symptoms and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Acute Heart Failure: The VERITAS Randomized Controlled Trials
John J.V. McMurray,John R. Teerlink,Gadi Cotter,Robert C. Bourge,John G.F. Cleland,Guillaume Jondeau,Henry Krum,Marco Metra,Christopher M. O'Connor,John D. Parker,Guillermo Torre-Amione,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,James Lewsey,Aline Frey,Maurizio Rainisio,Isaac Kobrin +15 more
TL;DR: The endothelin receptor antagonist tezosentan did not improve symptoms or clinical outcomes in patients with acute heart failure and was not associated with worse outcomes.

Early drop in systolic blood pressure and worsening renal function in acute heart failure: renal results of Pre-RELAX-AHF.
Adriaan A. Voors,Beth A. Davison,G. Michael Felker,Piotr Ponikowski,Elaine Unemori,Gadi Cotter,John R. Teerlink,Barry H. Greenberg,Gerasimos Filippatos,Sam L. Teichman,Marco Metra +10 more
TL;DR: The relation between baseline systolic blood pressure, change in SBP, and worsening renal function (WRF) in acute heart failure patients enrolled in the Pre‐RELAX‐AHF trial was determined.

Conversion of recent onset paroxysmal atrial fibrillation to normal sinus rhythm: the effect of no treatment and high-dose amiodarone. A randomized, placebo-controlled study.
Gadi Cotter,Alex Blatt,Edo Kaluski,E. Metzkor-Cotter,M. Koren,I. Litinski,R. Simantov,Yaron Moshkovitz,R. Zaidenstein,E. Peleg,Zvi Vered,A. Golik +11 more
TL;DR: Intravenous high-dose amiodarone safely facilitates conversion of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, however, such treatment should be reserved for patients with unfavourable risk factor profiles, not converting during 8 h of observation or requiring rate control.
Agents with inotropic properties for the management of acute heart failure syndromes. Traditional agents and beyond
John R. Teerlink,Marco Metra,Valerio Zacà,Hani N. Sabbah,Gadi Cotter,Mihai Gheorghiade,Livio Dei Cas +6 more
TL;DR: The characteristics of the patients with a potential indication for inotropic therapy, the main data from registries and controlled trials, the mechanism of the untoward effects of these agents on outcomes and, lastly, perspectives with new agents with novel mechanisms of action are discussed.
Acute Heart Failure in the Elderly: Differences in Clinical Characteristics, Outcomes, and Prognostic Factors in the VERITAS Study
Marco Metra,Gadi Cotter,Jill Ann El-Khorazaty,Beth A. Davison,Olga Milo,Valentina Carubelli,Robert C. Bourge,John G.F. Cleland,John G.F. Cleland,Guillaume Jondeau,Henry Krum,Christopher M. O'Connor,John D. Parker,Guillermo Torre-Amione,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Maurizio Rainisio,Isaac Kobrin,John J.V. McMurray,John R. Teerlink +18 more
TL;DR: Elderly patients with acute HF have different clinical characteristics and poorer outcomes and prognostic variables differ in elderly compared with younger patients, and deaths at 90 days were associated with mortality only in the older patients.
