Atomic-scale modification of hybrid FePt cluster-assembled films
A. N. Dobrynin,D. N. Ievlev,G. Verschoren,Johan Swerts,M. J. Van Bael,Kristiaan Temst,Peter Lievens,E. Piscopiello,G. Van Tendeloo,S. Q. Zhou,André Vantomme +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a study on the production of iron-platinum bimetallic clusters with a laser vaporization cluster source, and subsequent low-energy cluster beam deposition in ultrahigh-vacuum conditions is presented.

Why are sputter deposited Nd1+xBa2−xCu3O7−δ thin films flatter than NdBa2Cu3O7−δ films?
TL;DR: In this paper, high-resolution electron microscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy have been used to compare the microstructure of NdBa2Cu3O7−δ and Nd1+xBa2−xCu4O9 inclusions, and a correlation is made between the excess Nd and the absence of growth spirals at the surface of the Ndrich films.

Surface enhanced Raman scattering of silver sensitized cobalt nanoparticles in metal–dielectric nanocomposites
Jérémie Margueritat,Jérémie Margueritat,José Gonzalo,Carmen N. Afonso,U. Hörmann,G. Van Tendeloo,Adnen Mlayah,Daniel B. Murray,Lucien Saviot,Y Zhou,Minghui Hong,Boris Luk'yanchuk +11 more
TL;DR: A new type of nanocomposite containing cobalt and silver nanoparticles organized in parallel layers with a well controlled separation allows the observation of an enhanced low-frequency Raman signal at the vibration frequency of cobalt nanoparticles excited through the surface plasmons ofsilver nanoparticles.

The defect structure of aluminium rich AlMo alloys
TL;DR: In this article, the aluminium rich end of the aluminium-molybdenum system has been studied by electron diffraction and electron microscopy and the defect structure of both Al 4 Mo and Al 5 Mo has been investigated.

Size distribution and magnetic behavior of lead inclusions in silicon single crystals
K. Milants,Joris Verheyden,T Barancira,Wim Deweerd,Hugo Pattyn,S. Bukshpan,D. L. Williamson,F. Vermeiren,G. Van Tendeloo,C. Vlekken,S. Libbrecht,C. Van Haesendonck +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the size distribution of Pb inclusions formed by high-dose ion implantation in crystalline Si has been studied with a variety of experimental techniques, including small angle x-ray scattering, transmission electron microscopy, and low-temperature magnetic moment measurements.
