New techniques for the analysis of linear interval equations

Energy conservation is the main major issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Indeed, recharging energy sources in WSNs is often too costly, difficult and sometimes impossible. To extend the WSN lifetime without recharging, energy saving methods and energy harvesting systems are crucial. In this paper, we propose Enhanced Energy Management Scheme in Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks (EEM-EHWSN). EEM-EHWSN uses receiver-initiated communication that regulates the active/sleep periods through the introduction of an energy threshold policy and use of remaining energy in order to decrease the duty-cycle while ensuring a balance between the energy consumption and energy harvesting ability by each sensor node in the WSN. The EEM-EHWSN was implemented using OMNeT++/MiXiM, and the simulation results show that our scheme improves the overall performance of the network through reducing the mean latency, increasing the throughput and the packet delivery ratio.

For nonlinear operators in partially ordered spaces interval extensions will be defined by means of Lipschitz operators. Assumptions are made for the inclusion monotony of these interval extensions. In this manner we obtain methods for interval iteration to include a solution of an operator equation. By transforming the equation in iterative form a parameter is chosen appropriately, so that the convergence of the interval sequence becomes as fast as possible.

It is proved that two previously known sufficient conditions for regularity of interval matrices are equivalent in the sense that they cover the same class of interval matrices.

Mit Hilfe des freien Parameters in der Fixpunktgleichung des Parallelenverfahrens ist es moglich, die Lipschitz-Konstante der kontrahierenden Abbildung zu verkleinern. Durch diese Verkleinerung kann in geeigneten Fallen eine kontrahierende Abbildung erzeugt werden. Ist die Abbildung bereits kontrahierend, ist sie auch kontrahierend fur den berechneten Wert des Parameters. Ferner ergibt sich neben einer verbesserten Fehlerabschatzung fur die Iterationsfolgen auch ein kleinerer Konvergenzfaktor. Das Verfahren wird an Hand eines Beispiels erlautert.
