Willem J Lammers,Henk R. van Buuren,Gideon M. Hirschfield,Harry L.A. Janssen,Pietro Invernizzi,Andrew Mason,Cyriel Y. Ponsioen,Annarosa Floreani,Christophe Corpechot,Marlyn J. TL;DR: Levels of alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin can predict outcomes (liver transplantation or death) of patients with PBC and might be used as surrogate end points in therapy trials.

Reduced exposure to calcineurin inhibitors early after liver transplantation prevents recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma
Manuel Rodríguez-Perálvarez,Emmanuel Tsochatzis,María Carmen Naveas,G. Pieri,Carmen García-Caparrós,James O'Beirne,Antonio Poyato-González,Gustavo Ferrín-Sánchez,José Luis Montero-Álvarez,David Patch,Douglas Thorburn,Javier Briceño,Manuel de la Mata,Andrew K. Burroughs +13 more
TL;DR: Investigation of immunosuppression protocols with early CNI minimization should be preferred in LT patients with HCC in order to minimize tumour recurrence.

Nine scoring models for short-term mortality in alcoholic hepatitis: cross-validation in a biopsy-proven cohort
Papastergiou,Emmanuel Tsochatzis,G. Pieri,Evangelos Thalassinos,A. Dhar,Bruno S,S. Karatapanis,Tu Vinh Luong,James O'Beirne,David Patch,Douglas Thorburn,A.K. Burroughs +11 more
TL;DR: Several prognostic models have emerged in alcoholic hepatitis (AH), but lack of external validation precludes their universal use.

Inflammation-based scores do not predict post-transplant recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients within Milan criteria
I Parisi,Emmanuel Tsochatzis,Hasitha Wijewantha,Manuel Rodríguez-Perálvarez,Laura De Luca,Pinelopi Manousou,Evangelia Fatourou,G. Pieri,Vassilios Papastergiou,Neil Davies,Dominic Yu,Tu Vinh Luong,Amar P. Dhillon,Douglas Thorburn,David Patch,James O'Beirne,Tim Meyer,Andrew K. Burroughs +17 more
TL;DR: Histological fulfillment of the Milan criteria and absence of neoadjuvant transarterial treatment were significantly associated with post‐LT HCC recurrence and NLR and PLR were associated with better response to TAE, as this was recorded histologically in the explanted liver.

Mechanism of cell death in acute-on-chronic liver failure: a clinico-pathologic-biomarker study.
Danielle Adebayo,Vincenzo Morabito,Fausto Andreola,G. Pieri,Tu-Vin Luong,Amar P. Dhillon,Rajeshwar P. Mookerjee,Rajiv Jalan +7 more
TL;DR: Whether plasma levels of caspase‐cleaved cytokeratin M30 and uncleaved cytokersatin M65 are altered in ACLF patients and relate this to liver histology is evaluated.
