Expression of FLT3 receptor and FLT3-ligand in human leukemia-lymphoma cell lines.
G. Meierhoff,Dehmel U,H. J. Gruss,Olivier Rosnet,Daniel Birnbaum,Hilmar Quentmeier,W. G. Dirks,HG Drexler +7 more
TL;DR: The FLT3 gene encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase that is closely related to two well-known receptors, KIT and FMS, that regulate with their respective ligands, stem cell factor (SCF) and macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF), proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic cells.

Effects of FLT3 ligand on human leukemia cells. I. Proliferative response of myeloid leukemia cells.
Dehmel U,M Zaborski,G. Meierhoff,Olivier Rosnet,Daniel Birnbaum,Wolf-Dieter Ludwig,Hilmar Quentmeier,Hans G. Drexler +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that FL is effective in inducing proliferation of leukemic myeloid cells and that protein expression does not necessarily indicate an FL-responsive cell, and further studies are needed to clarify whether the signals provided by FLT3 interaction are confined to a proliferation-inducing function or whether maturational progression could also be elicited in certain cells.
