MiR-577 inhibits pancreatic β-cell function and survival by targeting fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF-21) in pediatric diabetes.
TL;DR: Although FGF-21 does not acutely stimulate insulin secretion in isolated islets from normal rats, it increases insulin secretion and insulin content in diabetic islets and protects β-cells from apoptosis via the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 and Akt signaling pathways.
Association of IL-1α gene polymorphism with susceptibility to type 1 diabetes in Chinese children.
TL;DR: Evidence is found of a significant association between the rs1800587 polymorphism in the IL-1α gene and T1D and in Chinese children with and without type 1 diabetes.
Effect of transcription factor ZBTB20 on mouse pituitary development.
Q Dong,Xiang Chen,G M Li +2 more
TL;DR: ZBTB20, an important transcriptional factor in pituitary development, is mainly responsible for the terminal differentiation of prolactin-secreting cells, thereby regulating the secretion of the pituitsary hormones.
