The automotive industry has been emerging with a very fast rate and still, it is growing day by day. Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the reasons behind these changes in the automobile business. The prospects and potential of this innovation are extraordinary. The main enabling factor which provide promising paradigm is the integration of several technologies and communication solution. In this paper, a device is built which can generate an immediate response from the hospital if the vehicle get into the accident and driver is helpless to call the Ambulance. The aim of this work is to build a device which can increase the safety of driver and passenger. IoT technology helps us to achieve this target of building the device successfully. This project will reduce the lead time between accident occurred and information received by hospital about the accident.

IoT based framework for the detection of vehicle accident

This paper illustrates the design and development of a theft control system for security lockers, homes, bank lockers, jewelry outlets, etc. The proposed system consists of an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) based sensor which acts as an electronic eye for detecting the theft or attempt, and a signaling procedure based on SMS using GSM (Global Systems for Mobile communications) technology. The GSM based communication helps the owner and concerned authorities to take necessary and timely action in order to prevent the theft. The LDR circuit is interfaced using a relay circuit with an Arduino microcontroller board. Efficacy of the proposed system can be seen in its immediate intimation regarding the incident. The proposed designed system is very effective and inexpensive.

Photosensitive security system for theft detection and control using GSM technology

A lightning monitoring system is used to observe, collect and analyse lightning activities so that a preventive measure to protect power equipment from severe damage can be planned. An effective lightning monitoring system is crucial to ensure the reliability and sustainability of the electrical energy supply. Despite numerous published papers on this topic, there seem to be an absence of comprehensive review papers that evaluate monitoring technologies and their performances. Owing to the literature gap, this paper is written to summarise the working principles of the relevant sensors and the various methods of data transmission, storage and analysis, as well as the various ways of predicting the occurrence of lightning strikes. This knowledge will contribute to the development of a new online lightning detection system that will be more efficient, without reducing the effectiveness and sensitivity of the system, by utilizing the available technology for data transmission and analysis.

Lightning monitoring system for sustainable energy supply: A review

With the advancement of society, the museum has exhibited more and more cultural relics, the number of visitors has also increased rapidly, and more and more criminals have stolen cultural relics. The traditional anti-theft methods cannot completely block their pace. This paper proposes a museum anti-theft scheme based on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, which identifies whether the cultural relics are within the safe range through the passive RFID readers/writers. Once stolen, the cultural relics will leave the effective RFID identification range, which results in immediately alarming, then the system starts the anti-theft plan. The method is free from the drawbacks of the traditional infrared anti-theft, door magnetic detection and the like, the proposed anti-theft method monitoring has the immediacy and the safety factor is higher. Finally, in this paper, hardware circuit designs, software development and a series of tests are carried out to achieve the desired results.

Study on the Anti-Theft Technology of Museum Cultural Relics Based on Internet of Things

Cattle Rustling is a recurrent phenomenon observed in many in African countries today. This scourge cause significant losses to farmers and governments. Confronted with this problem farmers have generally no solutions. Internet of Things can be a real solution to defeat this nuisance by first allowing theft detection and further prevent it with an accurate analysis on cattle's behavior. Many solutions emerged these last years but they are generally design for European countries and these solutions do not fit the real constraints related to African rural context. The main constraint in these rural areas is the difficulty farmers to access the internet and the knowledge on how to use it. These zones are generally not covered by the 3G/4G network. This paper discusses the possible challenges of cattle rustling in Africa and how technology like the internet of things can be used to counter fight the existing menace by unfolding some preventive solutions. We also proposed a prototype based on LoRa (Long Range) technology that allow to identify if an abnormal situation is occurring in a herd. This prototype consist of low power LoRa end-devices and a LoRa Gateway in a single hope communication.

This paper presents a novel radio frequency identification (RFID) based vehicle immobilizer system, which features low hacking probability while preserving the safety of the passengers of the hijacked vehicle. The immobilizer uses the active RFID technology where the tag is generated with comparatively large character sets. The receiving unit is intelligently integrated into three control circuits in the vehicle, namely, ignition circuit, power control unit, and automatic gear changing system, enabling it to bring the vehicle speed down to zero in a safe step by step manner. The anti-theft auto security system proposed here was tested under different weather conditions and possible signal distortion situations to verify its reliability. Vehicle hijacking has become an ever increasing problem during the last decade and various auto manufactures and researchers have developed and implemented a range of anti-theft security systems to evade hijacking of vehicles. The passive RFID (1), touch sensitive alarms (2), cellular based devices (3),(4),(5), global position system (GPS) tracking devices (6) and voice recognition devices (7) are some of the common technologies which are used in such systems. Passive RFID devices work on their self generated tag, which could be easily hacked by RF tuning devices. Therefore, the vulnerability of hacking of such devices is so high and eventually it does not give any protection at all. Touch sensitive alarm systems could also be disabled by using appropriate gloves like enclosing cloths for human body parts. GPS tracking devices can also be used but it needs extra infrastructure and costly devices to be installed, which make vehicle owners impassive on such devices. GSM devices too have the same problems of costly infrastructure and installment fee. Even though the existing technologies are capable to track or immobilize the hijacked vehicle they tend to display some drawbacks in terms of cost and conceptual weaknesses like threat to vehicle owner's life. Further, during the last decade, vehicle hijackers are intelligent enough to hack those systems to succeed on their hijacking process. As an example, GPS tracking device could be removed from the vehicle without much effort and could be inserted to another moving vehicle to mislead the trackers. The concept presented in this paper is novel in terms of the generated tag, reliability, less effect on human factor, and wider interfacing intelligence in terms of vehicle immobilizing action compared with the other vehicle security systems exist today. The main technology behind this system is active RFID, which has the capability of delivering a unique tag with very low hacking probability. Besides, the design can be realized with relative ease at low costs to drive the vehicle hijackers to ambiguity and ultimately get trapped without any hazard to the vehicle owner. The rest of the paper is organized as follows. Section II describes the basic operating structure of the system. The RFID based Tag Generation is described in section III. Section IV focuses on data identification and processing system and section V discusses the intelligent vehicle interfacing part. The Field test and discussion is included in section VI. Section VII concludes the paper.

RFID-based anti-theft auto security system with an immobilizer

In developing countries like Sri Lanka, lightning warning systems are rare, and simple low cost methods adopted have not lived up to expectations. It would thus be very advantageous if warnings could be made localized to a specific area. This paper presents a method that is affordable to the ordinary person and informs him of the risk of lightning hazards in advance. The system is simple, yet effective, and produces specific warnings accurately using an effective technology. The lightning threat is assessed by monitoring the static electric field between the thundercloud and the earth using a user made made field mill unit. This triggers an alarm, or a rotating beacon according to the degree of the lightning threat, with the aid of a simple neural network. Intra cloud flashes, which occur in the vicinity of imminent lightning flashes in the region, emits radio frequency signals. By combining this as an additional input to the neural network, more accurate predictions can be made. Test results are also presented on the prototype lightning warning system developed at the University of Moratuwa.

Intelligent lightning warning system

This paper presents an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) of Takagi-Sugeno type for collision avoidance via inter-vehicular communication and practical implementation on two scaled down prototype vehicles. The key feature of the control algorithm is that the vehicles on course of an imminent collision communicate with each other and cooperatively take collision evasive maneuvers using a simple master-slave mechanism. The issues related to prototype realization, sensor integration, and practical implementation will be presented. The ANFIS-based algorithm has been extensively tested and validated for various collision scenarios. Experimental results and related issues further extend the understanding and credibility of this novel concept for interactive intelligent collision avoidance of smart ground vehicles.
