The GALEX Ultraviolet Virgo Cluster Survey (GUViCS). IV: The role of the cluster environment on galaxy evolution
Alessandro Boselli,E. Voyer,Samuel Boissier,Olga Cucciati,G. Consolandi,Luca Cortese,Michele Fumagalli,Michele Fumagalli,Giuseppe Gavazzi,Sebastien Heinis,Yannick Roehlly,E. Toloba,E. Toloba +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of the environment on galaxy evolution using a sample of 868 galaxies in the Virgo cluster and in its surrounding regions that are selected from the GALEX Ultraviolet Virgo Cluster Survey (GUViCS) with the purpose of understanding the origin of the red sequence in dense environments.
Spectacular tails of ionized gas in the Virgo cluster galaxy NGC 4569
Alessandro Boselli,Jean-Charles Cuillandre,Matteo Fossati,Samuel Boissier,Dominik J. Bomans,G. Consolandi,G. Anselmi,Luca Cortese,P. Cote,Patrick R. Durrell,Laura Ferrarese,Michele Fumagalli,Giuseppe Gavazzi,S. D. J. Gwyn,Gerhard Hensler,Ming Sun,Elisa Toloba,Elisa Toloba +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors obtained a wide-field image of NGC 4569 (M90), the brightest late-type galaxy in the Virgo cluster, and used the Ha surface brightness of these extended low-surface brightness features to derive the density and the mass of the gas that has been stripped during the interaction of the galaxy with the intracluster medium.
Hα3: an Hα imaging survey of HI selected galaxies from ALFALFA - VI. The role of bars in quenching star formation from z = 3 to the present epoch
Giuseppe Gavazzi,G. Consolandi,Massimo Dotti,Massimo Dotti,R. Fanali,Matteo Fossati,Michele Fumagalli,Michele Fumagalli,E. Viscardi,Giulia A. D. Savorgnan,Alessandro Boselli,Leonel Gutierrez,H. Hernández Toledo,R. Giovanelli,Martha P. Haynes +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Hα narrow-band imaging followup survey (Hα3) of field galaxies selected from the HI Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey (ALFALFA) in the Coma and Local superclusters.
