Connectivities of estuarine fishes to the coastal realm
TL;DR: It is concluded that estuarine connectivities are best illustrated for fishes that can be shown to be estuary dependent at some life-history stage, and resiliency for functionally important guilds may also offer resiliencies to their ecosystems.

Classification of Coastal and Marine Environments
TL;DR: In this article, the authors classified marine and coastal areas according to attributes of the physical environment and by the faunal assemblages involved, and defined and mapped Oceanic and coastal-margin realms with the marginal seas and archipelagos named according to their connections to oceanic realms.

Pacific walruses, indigenous hunters, and climate change: Bridging scientific and indigenous knowledge
Igor Krupnik,G. Carleton Ray +1 more
TL;DR: It is argued that despite substantial gaps and distinctions, information generated by scientists and indigenous hunters have many similarities, and differences in interpretation are primarily due to scaling and temporal rates of change of knowledge.

Pacific walrus: Benthic bioturbator of Beringia
TL;DR: The hypothesis is that positive feedbacks of walrus feeding strongly influence productivity and ecological function via benthic bioturbation and nutrient flux, and magnifies nutrient flux from sediment pore water to the water column by about two orders of magnitude over wide areas.
