Energy management problems associated with rapid institutional, political, technical, ecological, social and economic development have been of critical concern to both national and local governments worldwide for many decades; thus, addressing such issues is a global priority. The main of objective of this study is to provide a review on the application and use of decision making approaches in regard to energy management problems. This paper selected and reviewed 196 published papers, from 1995 to 2015 in 72 important journals related to energy management, which chosen from the “Web of Science” database and in this regard, the systematic and meta-analysis method which called “PRISMA” has been proposed. All published papers were categorized into 13 different fields: environmental impact assessment, waste management, sustainability assessment, renewable energy, energy sustainability, land management, green management topics, water resources management, climate change, strategic environmental assessment, construction and environmental management and other energy management areas. Furthermore, papers were categorized based on the authors, publication year, nationality of authors, region, technique and application, number of criteria, research purpose, gap and contribution, solution and modeling, results and findings. Hybrid MCDM and fuzzy MCDM in the integrated methods were ranked as the first methods in use. The Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Review was the important journal in this paper, with 32 published papers. Finally, environmental impact assessment was ranked as the first area that applied decision making approaches. Results of this study acknowledge that decision making approaches can help decision makers and stakeholders in solving some problems under uncertainties situations in environmental decision making and these approaches have seen increasing interest among previous researchers to use these approaches in various steps of environmental decision making process.

Urban land management requires the integration of a wide range of data on ecological process, environmental process and process on urban planning and development. This paper combined land suitability modeling with remote sensing (RS), landscape ecological analysis and geographic information system (GIS) to develop a spatial analyzing system for urban expansion land management. The spatial analyzing system incorporates the use of a multi-criteria mechanism in GIS for the suitability evaluation of urban expansion land. Grey relational analysis (GRA) was combined with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to address the uncertainties during the process of evaluation. This approach was applied to explicitly identify constraints and opportunities for future land conservation and development in Changsha City, China. Validation of the methodology showed a high degree of coincidence with the previous independent studies as regards ecological suitability. The methodology can be useful in environmental protection, land management and regional planning.

Spatial analyzing system for urban land-use management based on GIS and multi-criteria assessment modeling

Suitability evaluation for land is a complex task due to tensions between the need to develop residential and industrial areas and the wish to preserve high biodiversity and heterogeneous landscapes. We proposed an integrated method for land suitability evaluation (LSE) based on geographic information systems (GIS) under uncertainty. The method of grey relational analysis (GRA) was incorporated into analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to address the uncertainty during the process of evaluation. The systematic evaluation approach was tested by using urban expansion land in Changsha City as a case study. Based on the land–environmental information system database, the evaluation indicator system was established, which consisted of three subsystems criteria (biological and water resources, soil resource, and society and economy) and eight factors. Integrated Geographic Information Systems–Based Suitability Evaluation of Urban Land Expansion: A Combination of Analytic Hierarchy Process and Grey Relational Analysis

Nitrogen deposition, leaching and retention were monitored in a subtropical mixed forest in central-south China. Bulk precipitation, throughfall, and stream water were monitored from January, 2001 to December, 2004. The research results showed that mean flux of inorganic nitrogen input was 3.136 g m-2 a-1, net retention of nitrogen by forest canopy was 1.2516 g m-2 a-1, and by soil profile of Shaoshan forest reached 1.6644 g m-2 a-1, which indicated that most of nitrogen input (92.98%) was reserved in Shaoshan forest and Shaoshan forest is still a finer buffering system to nitrogen deposition.
