Genome scan for susceptibility loci for schizophrenia.
Ursula F. Bailer,Friedrich Leisch,Kurt Meszaros,Elisabeth Lenzinger,Ulrike Willinger,R. Strobl,Christian Gebhardt,E. Gerhard,Karoline Fuchs,Werner Sieghart,Siegfried Kasper,Kurt Hornik,Harald N. Aschauer +12 more
TL;DR: The result supports the notion that there is possibly some consistent evidence for replicated linkage of a schizophrenia susceptibility locus around the region of D6S309 at chromosome 6p24.
The potential of random forest and neural networks for biomass and recombinant protein modeling in Escherichia coli fed-batch fermentations
Michael Melcher,Theresa Scharl,Bernhard Spangl,Markus Luchner,Monika Cserjan,Karl Bayer,Friedrich Leisch,Gerald Striedner +7 more
TL;DR: The results clearly argue for a combined approach: neural networks as modeling technique and random forest as variable selection tool for the prediction of cell dry mass and recombinant protein based on online available process parameters and two‐dimensional multi‐wavelength fluorescence spectroscopy.
Identification of SERPINA1 as single marker for papillary thyroid carcinoma through microarray meta analysis and quantification of its discriminatory power in independent validation
Klemens Vierlinger,Markus Mansfeld,Oskar Koperek,Christa Nöhammer,Klaus Kaserer,Friedrich Leisch +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown that valuable new information can be gained from meta analysis of existing microarray data deposited in public repositories, and that the extracellular matrix pathway is strongly activated in the meta analysis data, suggesting an important role of tumor-stroma interaction in the carcinogenesis of papillary thyroid carcinoma.
