Money, people or mission? Accountability in local and non-local NGOs
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored differences between locally and non-local owned NGOs in South Africa and found that locally-owned NGOs more often claim to implement downward and internal accountability mechanisms, while non-locally owned organisations more often claimed to implement upward accountability mechanisms.
