Sound power and timbre as cues for the dynamic strength of orchestral instruments.
TL;DR: In a series of measurements and statistical analyses, a comprehensive picture of the acoustical manifestation of "musical dynamics" with respect to sound power and timbre for all standard orchestral instruments is delivered.
Data-Based Binaural Synthesis Including Rotational and Translatory Head-Movements
Frank Schultz,Sascha Spors +1 more
- 02 Sep 2013
TL;DR: This work proposes an analytic method to consider translatory head-movements of the listener for dynamic binaural synthesis and presents a straightforward calculus in the spatial frequency domain.
An extraaural headphone system for optimized binaural reproduction
Vera Erbes,Frank Schultz,Alexander Lindau,Stefan Weinzierl +3 more
- 01 Jan 2012
TL;DR: The transparent binaural reproduction of virtual acoustic environments requires a headphone system with high spectral bandwidth, with a transfer function as linear as possible, a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), sufficient crosstalk attenuation and a frequency response which is robust with respect to repositioning and interindividually differing morphology.

Improved Referencing Schemes for 2.5D Wave Field Synthesis Driving Functions
TL;DR: Improved driving functions for 2.5D wave field synthesis are introduced by deriving an expressive physical interpretation of the stationary phase approximation leading to the presented unified Wave Field Synthesis framework and are better suited for practical applications.
