Isolation and characterization of a MAGE gene family in the Xp21.3 region
TL;DR: A human gene with strong homology to the MAGE gene family located in Xq27-qter has been isolated by using exon-trapping of cosmids in the Xp21.3 region and it is shown that the last exon contains the open reading frame and is present in a minimum of five copies in a 30-kb interval.

Necdin Plays a Role in the Serotonergic Modulation of the Mouse Respiratory Network: Implication for Prader-Willi Syndrome
Sebastien Zanella,Françoise Watrin,Saida Mebarek,Fabienne Marly,Michel Roussel,Catherine Gire,Gwenaelle Diene,Maïté Tauber,Françoise Muscatelli,Gérard Hilaire +9 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the lack of Necdin expression induces perinatal serotonergic alterations that affect the maturation and function of the respiratory network, inducing breathing deficits in mice and probably in Prader-Willi patients.

Dynamic developmental regulation of the large non-coding RNA associated with the mouse 7C imprinted chromosomal region.
Elodie Le Meur,Françoise Watrin,Miguel Landers,Rachel Sturny,Marc Lalande,Françoise Muscatelli +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown here that LNCAT is developmentally regulated, with transcript variants being specifically expressed through neuronal differentiation in postmitotic neurons, and proposed an alternative and consistent model of imprinted gene silencing of Ube3a.

Oxytocin administration in neonates shapes hippocampal circuitry and restores social behavior in a mouse model of autism.
Alessandra Bertoni,Fabienne Schaller,Roman Tyzio,Stephane Gaillard,Francesca Santini,Marion Xolin,Diabe Diabira,Radhika Vaidyanathan,Valéry Matarazzo,Igor Medina,Elizabeth A. D. Hammock,Jinwei Zhang,Bice Chini,Jean-Luc Gaiarsa,Françoise Muscatelli +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used in situ hybridization (RNAscope) to establish that Magel2 and oxytocin receptor are co-expressed in the dentate gyrus and CA2/CA3 hippocampal regions involved in the circuitry underlying social memory.
Expression of the Prader-Willi gene Necdin during mouse nervous system development correlates with neuronal differentiation and p75NTR expression
David Andrieu,Françoise Watrin,Michio Niinobe,Kazuaki Yoshikawa,Françoise Muscatelli,Pierre Alain Fernandez +5 more
TL;DR: The spatial and temporal expression of p75NTR is included in Necdin expression domain, in agreement with Necdin proposed role on cell cycle arrest, inhibition of apoptosis and facilitation of neuronal differentiation in vitro, and with hypothalamic cellular deficiencies reported in mice with abrogation of the Necdin gene.
