Results of the South African Cloud-Seeding Experiments Using Hygroscopic Flares
TL;DR: A new method of seeding convective clouds for the purpose of augmenting rainfall is being developed in South Africa as mentioned in this paper, where flares are attached to the trailing edge of the wings of the seeding aircraft and ignited in updrafts below the cloud base of convective storms.
Toward the operational application of hygroscopic flares for rainfall enhancement in South Africa
Deon E. Terblanche,Francois E. Steffens,Lizelle Fletcher,Marion P. Mittermaier,Robert C. Parsons +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the development of verification techniques based on data collected during the first South African operational rainfall enhancement project in which hygroscopic flares were used to seed the bases of convective storms.

Geostatistical Estimation of Animal Abundance in the Kruger National Park, South Africa
Francois E. Steffens
- 01 Jan 1993
TL;DR: The Kruger National Park comprises 19 485 square km in the north-eastern corner of the Transvaal, bordering Mozambique to the east and Zimbabwe to the north as mentioned in this paper.

A New Look at the Potential of Hygroscopic Seeding in Summertime Convective Clouds
R. T. Bruintjes,G. K. Mather,Deon E. Terblanche,Francois E. Steffens +3 more
- 01 Jan 1993
TL;DR: Hygroscopic seeding was conducted in the sixties and early seventies in the USA, but since then, most cloud seeding efforts have used glaciogenic seeding materials, usually silver iodide and dry ice as mentioned in this paper.
