State of the Art of Artificial Intelligence and Predictive Analytics in the E&P Industry: A Technology Survey
Cesar Bravo,Luigi Saputelli,Francklin Rivas,Anna Gabriela Pérez,Michael Nickolaou,Georg Zangl,Neil de Guzman,Shahab D. Mohaghegh,Gustavo Nunez +8 more
TL;DR: This work aims to be a guide for personnel responsible for production and asset management on how AI-based applications can add more value and improve their decision making and illustrates how AI techniques will play an important role in future developments of IT solutions in the E&P industry.

Classification of Venezuelan spirituous beverages by means of discriminant analysis and artificial neural networks based on their Zn, Cu and Fe concentrations
Edwin A. Hernández-Caraballo,Rita M Avila-Gómez,Tarcisio Capote,Francklin Rivas,Anna Gabriela Pérez +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used both linear and quadratic discriminant analysis (QDA) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) trained with the backpropagation algorithm for estimating if beverages can be distinguished based on the concentrations of these elements in the final product, and whether it is possible to assess the geographic location of the manufacturers (Lara or Falcon states) and the presence or absence of sugar in the end product.

State of the Art of Artificial Intelligence and Predictive Analytics in the E&P Industry: A Technology Survey
Cesar Bravo,Luigi Saputelli,Francklin Rivas,Anna Gabriela Pérez,Michael Nikolaou,Georg Zangl,Neil de Guzman,Shahab D. Mohaghegh,Gustavo Nunez +8 more
- 27 Mar 2012
TL;DR: Artificial intelligence (AI) has been used for more than two decades as a development tool for solutions in several areas of the EP (e.g., workflow automation, automatic process control, rule-based case reasoning, data mining, proxy models, and virtual environments) as discussed by the authors.

Long-term prediction of bearing condition by the neo-fuzzy neuron
Abdenour Soualhi,Guy Clerc,Hubert Razik,Francklin Rivas +3 more
- 24 Oct 2013
TL;DR: A new approach to predict the degradation of bearings by a time series forecasting model called the neo-fuzzy neuron using the root mean square extracted from vibration signals as a health indicator is presented.

Evaluation of chemometric techniques and artificial neural networks for cancer screening using Cu, Fe, Se and Zn concentrations in blood serum
Edwin A. Hernández-Caraballo,Edwin A. Hernández-Caraballo,Francklin Rivas,Anna Gabriela Pérez,Lué M. Marcó-Parra +4 more
TL;DR: The present work was aimed at comparing the performance of two chemometric techniques and two artificial neural networks as screening tools for cancer, with the probabilistic neural network offered additional advantages when compared to the more popular backpropagation counterpart.
