MRI T2-weighted sequences-based texture analysis (TA) as a predictor of response to neoadjuvant chemo-radiotherapy (nCRT) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC)
Filippo Crimì,Giulia Capelli,Gaya Spolverato,Quoc Riccardo Bao,Florio A,Sebastiano Milite Rossi,Diego Cecchin,Laura Albertoni,Cristina Campi,Salvatore Pucciarelli,Roberto Stramare +10 more
TL;DR: MRI T2-weighted sequences-based TA was not effective in predicting pathological complete response to nCRT in patients with LARC, and further studies are needed to thoroughly investigate the potential of MRI TA in this setting.

Decreased antithrombin III activity in diabetes may be due to non-enzymatic glycosylation--a preliminary report.
TL;DR: The data show that in diabetes there is a depressed biological activity of antithrombin III and suggest that this reflects nonenzymatic glycosylation of antitrom bin III protein.

Beneficial effects of autologous bone marrow cell infusion and antioxidants/L-arginine in patients with chronic critical limb ischemia.
Claudio Napoli,Bartolomeo Farzati,Vincenzo Sica,Emanuele Iannuzzi,Giuseppe Coppola,Andrea Silvestroni,Maria Luisa Balestrieri,Florio A,Angelo Matarazzo +8 more
TL;DR: This small study shows that intraarterial autologous BMC and antioxidants and l-arginine therapy is safe and effective in patients with advanced atherosclerotic PAD with positive effects until 18 months.

Therapeutic targeting of the stem cell niche in experimental hindlimb ischemia.
Claudio Napoli,Sharon William-Ignarro,Russell E. Byrns,Maria Luisa Balestrieri,Ettore Crimi,Bartolomeo Farzati,Francesco Mancini,Filomena de Nigris,Angelo Matarazzo,Maurizio D’Amora,Ciro Abbondanza,Carmela Fiorito,Alfonso Giovane,Florio A,Ettore Varricchio,Antonio Palagiano,Pellegrino Biagio Minucci,Mario Felice Tecce,Antonio Giordano,Antonio Giordano,Antonio Pavan,Louis J. Ignarro +21 more
TL;DR: Following mobilization induced by G-CSF treatment, mice also treated with PTH showed increases in blood flow, capillary density, nitrite/nitrate release, angiogenic factors and circulating progenitor cells, as well as reduced apoptosis, fibrosis, oxidative stress and inflammation in ischemic muscles.

Prevalence of antibiotic resistance among clinical isolates of methicillin-resistant staphylococci.
Marie Francoise Tripodi,V. Attanasio,Le Adinolfi,Florio A,P. Cione,Susanna Cuccurullo,Riccardo Utili,Giuseppe Ruggiero +7 more
TL;DR: All strains of methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus were susceptible to glycopeptide antibiotics and to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, whereas approximately 50 % of coagulase-negative staphylitis exhibited either moderate susceptibility or resistance to teicoplanin.
