TL;DR: The growth of Scots pine and oak in mixed versus monospecific stands on 36 triplets located along a productivity gradient across Europe, reaching from Sweden to Spain and from France to Georgia, is studied to discuss the potential of this mixture in view of climate change.
Cultivation profile: a visual evaluation method of soil structure adapted to the analysis of the impacts of mechanical site preparation in forest plantations
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the impacts of three MSP methods on soil structure in six experimental plantations located in Northern France and found unexpected negative effects of some of them, such as the creation of small cavities, the presence of compacted soil volumes due to wheel tracks, and the pseudogleisation of soil zones due to changes in water circulation in the soil.
