To study temperature and rate-dependent behaviors of molybdenum-rhenium (Mo-Re) alloys, compressive tests at variable temperatures and strain rates were conducted. After the same machining and thermal annealing processes, fully recrystallization happens in Mo and Mo-Re alloys with low Re content (5 wt. %), while recovery occurs in Mo-Re alloys with high Re content (14 wt.% and 42 wt. %). The strength increases as Re content rises at all temperatures (300 °C, 600 °C and 1200 °C), meaning sufficient strengthening effect of Re. The rate-dependent behaviors, however, show different trends between Mo and Mo-Re alloys. Positive strain rate sensitivity is detected in Mo and low Re Mo-Re alloys in all temperatures, which is consistent to other research. While, near zero strain rate sensitivity is found in high Re Mo-Re alloys at 600 °C. Such an unusual phenomenon may be contributed to high stored dislocation density during mechanical processes. The stored dislocations are activated at a proper temperature to accommodate plastic flow, which weakens the influence of strain rate on strength. 

Mechanical and microstructural responses in molybdenum-rhenium alloys under hot compressions

Helium ion-irradiation responses in molybdenum (Mo) and molybdenum-rhenium (Mo-Re) alloys at room temperature were evaluated via micro-pillar compression. Irradiation-induced hardening is closely dependent on orientation in Mo-Re alloys with low Re content, while is weak orientation-dependence on high Re alloys. Irradiated pillars with [1 0 0] orientation all shows higher flow stresses than pillars with [1 1 0] orientation after yield, which is distinguishing from pillars before irradiation that has been shown in our previous work. High density of dislocation loops and helium bubbles after irradiation at room temperature induces severe hardening in Mo. Voids / small loops induced by irradiation lead to less hardening in Mo-Re alloy than in Mo. No precipitation is observed in all samples, which may be attributed to low irradiated temperature and implantation energy.

Investigating the Hot Deformation Behavior and Microstructural Evolution of Mo-14Re Alloy at Various Strains and Strain Rates

Textures in molybdenum‐rhenium (Mo‐Re) alloys are inevitable during thermal fabrication. [110] and [100] are common orientations in Mo‐Re alloys and effect mechanical responses. However, orientation dependence of mechanical responses in Mo‐Re alloys is not quite clear yet. To clarity this problem, micro‐pillar compression tests are conducted in grains with orientation [100] and [110] separately. Orientation‐dependent compressive properties are found in Mo‐14Re and Mo‐42Re (wt.%), but are not found in Mo and Mo‐5Re, which may be attributed to activated multi‐slip planes as increased Re. Solid solution effect of Re not only relies on orientations, but also on Re contents. Softening effect occurs in both [100] and [110] Mo‐5Re. while, strong strengthening effect happens in [110] Mo‐14Re and Mo‐42Re. Our research clarifies that Mo‐Re alloys with [110] orientation/texture could be preferred to obtain good strengthening effect.

Orientation‐dependent mechanical responses in molybdenum‐rhenium alloys evaluated via micro‐pillars

High-temperature performance of MoSi2-coated MoRe alloys: Oxidation resistance, emissivity, and thermal shock response

Three-dimensional mapping is an essential component of autonomous Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) navigation. The paper focuses on the 3D spatial representation method of MAV to overcome the collision problem caused by soft constraints, control error, and planning with the center of mass by inflating the occupancy grid map. A fast incremental inflated map construction method is proposed, which reduces the time-consumption caused by the increase of map range and inflated size. The method focuses on areas of the map that occupied state changes and introduces two arrays that record newly appearing and disappearing obstacles. Then, a series of breadth-first search algorithms are used to traverse the parts of the inflated map that need local modification to update the inflated map. Moreover, a sliding map model is designed based on the MAV position, which is suitable for large-range autonomous flight. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified with simulated and actual flight data. The proposed method takes about 3 ms to construct the inflated map with a local update range of 16 m × 16 m × 6 m.

Parametric Optimization of Multi-Pass Electron Beam Melting for Molybdenum Alloy Containing 47.5 Wt% Rhenium

High voltage cable accessories play important roles in the power system. Due to the limitation of laying conditions, in some cases, the cable may bend at a certain curvature at the cable joint. The interference fit between the cable joint and the cable is used to form the interface pressure, and the curved state of the cable joint will cause the interface pressure to deviate from the preset value (locally larger or smaller). Aiming at the above problems, in this paper, the model parameters of silicone rubber and semiconductive rubber for 110kV cold-shrinkable cable accessories were calculated by the uniaxial tensile test and the selection of Yeoh model. Based on the constructed nonlinear model of rubber materials, the interface pressure distribution results of the 110kV cable joint before and after bending were analyzed by using finite element simulation software and mechanics theory. The results show that Yeoh model is more suitable as a constitutive model for silicone rubber and semiconductive rubber under uniaxial tensile test conditions. When the cable joint is over-assembled on the cable, the interface pressure is symmetrically distributed along the axial direction. The interface pressure from the root of the stress cone to the end of the high-voltage shielding tube is slightly fluctuated and the interface pressure of the region is smaller than that of the highvoltage shielding tube. When the cable joint assembled on the cable is curved with a certain curvature, the interface pressure in the middle area of the upper surface of the cable joint becomes larger, and the interface pressure at both ends decreases. On the contrary, the interface pressure in the middle area of the lower surface of the cable joint becomes smaller. The interface pressure at both ends becomes larger.
