Fruit tree vegetable-based agroforestry systems (FVAS) are being introduced in highland cropping systems of Bangladesh. This combined production system is applicable against changing climate, ensuring nutritional requirements along with food security, ecological balance, and economic profitability. The present study explored the performance of cauliflower as lower story crop in aonla based multistoried agroforestry system. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replication. The treatments were T1= Aonla + carambola + lemon + dragon fruit + cauliflower, T2= Aonla + dragon fruit + cauliflower, T3= Dragon fruit + cauliflower, T4= Cauliflower in the open field (Control). Among different combinations of agroforestry systems, the highest curd yield of cauliflower (15 t ha-1) was recorded under dragon fruit-based system (T3) whereas most of the morphological parameters were maximum in the aonla + carambola + lemon + dragon fruit-based system (T1). The highest benefit–cost ratio (2.95) was noted in aonla+dragon+cauliflower-based system (T2) followed by dragon fruit based system (T3), while the highest land equivalent ratio (3.78) was calculated in the aonla + carambola + lemon + dragon fruit-based system (T1). This study revealed that, aonla + dragon + cauliflower based agroforestry system showed relatively higher economic returns and maximum land use efficiency in the upland cropping system.

Study of the anatomical characteristics of fruits and seeds of several species of the genus bellevalia and ornithogalum of the asparagaceae family spread in iraq

A factorial experiment was carried out according to the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with the split-split-plot arrangement with three replications during the season of 2020-2021 at the Research Station of the College of Agriculture, University of Diyala to study the effect of three factors are the cultivar (Aguadulce and Histal), the plant density (55555 plants. h-1 and 111111 plants. h-1), and the foliar spraying with a zinc fertilizer (0.5,1 and 1.5 g..l-1) on the vegetative growth of the faba bean. The results showed that Aguadulce cultivar was superior in plant height (152.80 cm) and Histal cultivar was distinguished in pod length (21.87 cm), while there were no significant differences between cultivars in the stems number, pods number, total yield and number of seeds per pod. The grown plants on low density (55555 plants. h-1) was superior in the stems number (14.20 stems. plant -1), the pods number (29.23 pods. plant -1), the pods length (21.74 cm) and the seeds number per pod (5,191 seeds. pod-1), while the grown plants on the high density (111111 plants. ha-1) was superior in plant height (147.10 cm) and the total yield (107.63 tons.ha-1).The fertilized plants at a concentration of 1.5 g. l-1 was significantly superior in the plant height (152.80 cm), stems number (14.40 seed. pod-1), number of pods per plant (34.52 seed. pod-1), number of seeds per pod (6.20 seed. pod-1) and pod length. (22.84 cm) and the green yield (144.17 tons. h-1).As for the triple interaction, the plants of Histal cultivar that planted on low density and treated with a concentration of 1.5 g. l-1 of zinc fertilizer was superior in the number of stems, number of pods, length of pod and number of seeds per pod, while the plants of the same cultivar that planted on high density and fertilized at a concentration of 1.5 g. l-1 was superior in plant length and the total yield.

RESPONSE of TOW POTATO CULTIVARS TO HUMIC ACID FERTILIZER

The experiment was carried out in the vegetable field of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape/College of Agriculture and Forestry/Mosul University, during the autumn growing season (2021). The experiment included the study of three factors, the first: two hybrids of broccoli (Raheq and Ice ball) ,the second factor included application methods of (foliar spray method and the method of adding to the soil)and third factor included the use of the organic nutrient (Tecnokel) at four concentrations (0, 2 , 4 and 6 g.L-1) plants were treated with the organic nutrient during three stages of plant growth: - the first two weeks after seedling, second and the third with an interval of 15 days between one stage and another. Thus, the experiment included 16 treatments (2x2x4) arranged in a factorial experiment within split-plot using the Randomized Complete Block Design, the hybrids were placed in the main plots and the compatibility between the application methods and the organic nutrient concentrations in the sub-plots. Each treatment was repeated three times, the results were analyzed statistically, according to the design used and the comparison of means according to Duncan's polynomial test at the 0.05 probability level.

Role of organic nutrient (Tecnokel) and application methods on some productive traits of two cauliflower hybrids (Brassica Oleracea var. botrytis)

In the spring of 2022, researchers from the University of Mosul’s Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry conducted an experiment on a vegetable field. In this experiment, we looked at three variables: first, the effects of two different potato cultivars (Montreal and EL-Beida). For the second part, we soaked potatoes in a solution of potassium humate with a concentration of (0, 0.5, 1 g L-1). Therefore, the experiment had 18 treatments (2 3 3), with the third factor being Nano-calcium fertilizer with three concentrations of (0, 1.5, and 2.5 g L-1) applied to plants at three stages of plant growth: the first 20 days after full germination, the second and third stages, with a 20-day interval between addition and another. Cultivars were positioned in the primary plots, with the interaction between two additional variables located in sub-plots, as part of a factorial experiment inside a split-plot utilizing the Randomized Complete Block Design with three repetitions. Duncan’s multiple range test for comparing means was used to analyze the data at a 5% significance level. This leads to the following conclusion: Of the cultivars tested, the Montreal variety performed best when soaked in potassium humate at two different concentrations, increasing both leaf area and dry matter percentage in the vegetative development (0.5 and 1). both total chlorophyll content and leaf area were significantly increased by g.L-1. The best statistically significant data for plant height, number of aerial stems, and leafy area were obtained after spraying calcium Nano-fertilizer at two doses.

Effect of Soaking Tubers in Potassium Humate and Foliar Application of Nano-Calcium Fertilizer on some Growth Traits of Two Potato Cultivars

The experiment was carried out in College of Agriculture and Forestry / Mosul University during spring season 2021, to investigate the effect of spraying organic acid (Ticamin Max) at a concentrations (1.5, 3, 4.5 and 6 ml L-1 ) and potassium sulfate at a concentrations (1.5, 3 , 4.5 and 6 gm l-1) in addition to the control treatment in potato plants ,Arizona cultivar, grade E. The experiment was designed according to the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The results showed : Spraying Ticamin Max at 6 ml l-1 concentration gave the highest significant values in the number of total and marketable tubers per plant, tubers hardness and the percentage of total soluble solids (TSS) in tubers, with a value of 12.88, 11.10, and 12.45 kg cm2 and 6.03%, respectively. The treatment of potassium sulfate at 3 gm l-1 concentration gave the highest significance values in the average marketable tubers weight, marketable plant yield, marketing yield of tubers, percentage of dry matter and starch in tubers, and the specific weight of the tubers, with a value of 93.12 g and 960.89 gm 51.247 tons ha-1 and 19.67%, 13.13% and 1.1920, respectively.
