A randomized clinical trial of Saccharomyces cerevisiae versus placebo in the irritable bowel syndrome.
Guillaume Pineton de Chambrun,Christel Neut,Christel Neut,Amélie Chau,Murielle Cazaubiel,Fanny Pélerin,Peter Jüsten,Pierre Desreumaux +7 more
TL;DR: Saccharomyces cerevisiae is well tolerated and reduces abdominal pain/discomfort scores without stool modification and may be a new promising candidate for improving abdominal pain in subjects with irritable bowel syndrome.

Randomized double blind placebo-controlled trial of Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 in irritable bowel syndrome: improvement in abdominal pain and bloating in those with predominant constipation:
Robin C. Spiller,Fanny Pélerin,Amélie Cayzeele Decherf,Corinne Maudet,Béatrice Housez,Murielle Cazaubiel,Peter Jüsten +6 more
TL;DR: In this study, S. cerevisiae I-3856 at the dose of 1000 mg per day does not improve intestinal pain and discomfort in general IBS patients, however, it seems to have an effect in the subgroup with constipation which needs further studies to confirm.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 in irritable bowel syndrome: An individual subject meta-analysis.
Amélie Cayzeele-Decherf,Fanny Pélerin,Sébastien Leuillet,Benoit Douillard,Béatrice Housez,Murielle Cazaubiel,Gunnard K Jacobson,Peter Jüsten,Pierre Desreumaux +8 more
TL;DR: This meta-analysis supports previous data linking S. cerevisiae I-3856 and improvement of GI symptoms, in IBS overall population and in the IBS-C and Ibs-C ≥ 2 subpopulations.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae-based probiotic as novel anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory agent for therapy of vaginal candidiasis.
Elena Gabrielli,Eva Pericolini,Eva Pericolini,Nathalie Ballet,Elena Roselletti,Samuele Sabbatini,Paolo Mosci,A. Cayzeele Decherf,Fanny Pélerin,Stefano Perito,Peter Jüsten,Anna Vecchiarelli +11 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the beneficial effect exerted by this S. cerevisiae-based probiotic is the result of its interference with the expression of fungus virulence factors coupled with the modulation of the inflammatory response of the host.
Probiotic Yeast Therapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Fanny Pélerin,Pierre Desreumaux +1 more
TL;DR: This study was performed in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized design with 2 parallel groups of IBS patients and the baseline characteristics of the patients showed no significant differences between groups particularly for the abdominal pain scores.
