Assessing the origin of a massive cyanobacterial bloom in the Río de la Plata (2019): Towards an early warning system.
Luis Aubriot,Bernardo Zabaleta,Facundo Bordet,Daniel Sienra,Jimena Risso,Marcel Achkar,Andrea Somma +6 more
TL;DR: The dynamics of NDCI areas, the downstream bloom discharge, and the predicted Río de la Plata residual currents, suggest that the cyanobacterial bloom originated in the Negro River (Palmar reservoir), which is where the main efforts should be directed to mitigate massive cyanob bacterial blooms.

Influence of light and mixing regime on bloom‐forming phytoplankton in a subtropical reservoir
TL;DR: The Salto Grande Reservoir, a large and enriched subtropical system on the Uruguay River (South America), was analyzed for the vertical distribution of bloom-forming phytoplankton.

Impact of interaction between Limnoperna fortunei and Roundup Max® on freshwater phytoplankton: An in situ approach in Salto Grande reservoir (Argentina).
Florencia Gattás,Florencia Gattás,Lucía Gabriela De Stefano,Alicia Vinocur,Alicia Vinocur,Facundo Bordet,Mariela Soledad Espinosa,Haydée Pizarro,Haydée Pizarro,Daniel Cataldo,Daniel Cataldo +10 more
TL;DR: The joint impact of the glyphosate-based commercial formulation Roundup Max® and the invasive mussel Limnoperna fortunei on phytoplankton and water quality was assessed in Salto Grande reservoir, a scenario were both stressors coexist.
