Using neural networks for the detection, extraction and pre-classification of spectra in objective prism images
TL;DR: A system based on a multi-layer feed-forward neural network is presented, which is able to detect and extract single, multiple or overlapped spectra from objective prism images, and to perform a coarse classification.

Www access to astronomical archives and databases
Fabio Pasian,Riccardo Smareglia +1 more
TL;DR: A WWW-accessible test astronomical archive, containing both 2-D and 1-D data, and having NCSA/Mosaic as an interface is described as an example of successful application of the above concepts.

Shape information extraction in noisy environments
Fabio Pasian,Paolo Santin +1 more
TL;DR: Two original algorithms, a thinning and a tracking one, are presented, particularly efficient on images strongly perturbed by noise, and a combined method is proposed, in which both algorithms are used to obtain a parametric description of significant arcs in a binary image.
