Predicting executive functioning from functional brain connectivity: network specificity and age effects.
Marisa K. Heckner,Edna C. Cieslik,Kaustubh R. Patil,Martin Gell,Simon B. Eickhoff,F. Hoffstädter,Robert Langner +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated to what degree individual abilities across three different executive functioning tasks can be predicted from resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) within EF-related, perceptuo-motor, whole-brain, and random networks separately in young and old adults.

EP 83. Neural correlates of age-related changes in cognitive action control
A. Latz,A. Latz,F. Hoffstädter,F. Hoffstädter,EC Cieslik,EC Cieslik,Svenja Caspers,Svenja Caspers,Katrin Amunts,Katrin Amunts,Susanne Moebus,Noreen Pundt,Simon B. Eickhoff,Simon B. Eickhoff,Robert Langner,Robert Langner +15 more
TL;DR: The authors' behavioral and neural data jointly corroborate a significant influence of age on cognitive action control, which is neurobiologically differentiable from behavioral performance, and argue that reduced connectivity during rest and increased recruitment during active tasks may represent complementary mechanisms of age-related network changes.
