TL;DR: The Linac4 as mentioned in this paper is an 86m long normal-conducting linac made of an H source, a Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ), a chopping line and a sequence of three accelerating structures: a Drift-Tube Linac (DTL), a CellCoupled DTL (CCDTL) and a Pi-Mode Structure (PIMS).
The SPL Front End: A 3 MeV$H^{-}$ Test Stand at CERN

TL;DR: In this article, a 3 MeV test stand was constructed at CERN to explore the beam dynamics at low energy, with special emphasis on the chopper line that has been designed to generate the required time structure of the beam, to clean the beam halo, and to match it to subsequent RF structures.
Coaxial wire measurements of ferrite kicker magnets
Hugo Day,Roger Jones,B. Salvant,Carlo Zannini,F. Caspers,E. Métral,Michael Barnes +6 more
- 11 Oct 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of longitudinal and transverse impedance measurements, for various kicker magnets, are presented and compared with analytical calculations: in addition, predictions from a numerical analysis are discussed.
Design of a chopper line for the cern spl
F. Caspers,Klaus Hanke,Alessandra Lombardi,Antonio Millich,A. Mostacci,M. Paoluzzi,Maurizio Vretenar +6 more
- 27 Aug 2002
TL;DR: In this paper, an improved design of the standard travelling-wave chopper structure has been analysed and tested on a prototype, and additional effort has gone into the design of a pulse generator or power amplifier capable of providing the required rise and fall times.
High temperature radio frequency loads
S. Federmann,F. Caspers,Alexej Grudiev,E. Montesinos,I. Syratchev +4 more
- 30 Aug 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present and discuss several design concepts for "metal only" RF high power loads, such as the application of magnetic steel corrugated waveguides near cutoff, which could find practical use above several GHz.
