Active and dormant microorganisms on glacier surfaces
James Bradley,Christopher B. Trivedi,Matthias Winkel,Rey Mourot,Stefanie Lutz,Catherine Larose,Christoph Keuschnig,Eva L. Doting,Laura Halbach,Athanasios Zervas,Alexandre M. Anesio,Liane G. Benning +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , a combination of metabarcoding and metatranscriptomic analyses, as well as cell-specific activity (BONCAT) incubations, were used to assess the diversity and activity of microbial communities from glacial surfaces in Iceland and Greenland.

Reaching a Double-Digit Dielectric Constant with Fullerene Derivatives
Sylvia Rousseva,Hugo den Besten,Felien S. van Kooij,Eva L. Doting,Nutifafa Y. Doumon,Evgenia Douvogianni,L. Jan Anton Koster,Jan C. Hummelen +7 more
TL;DR: The dielectric constant of organic semiconductors is a key material parameter for improving device performance in the field of organic electronics as mentioned in this paper, however, the effect of the dielectrics consta...

Pigment signatures of algal communities and their implications for glacier surface darkening
Laura Halbach,Lou-Anne Chevrollier,Eva L. Doting,Joseph M. Cook,Marie B. Jensen,Liane G. Benning,James Bradley,Martin Hansen,Lars Chr. Lund-Hansen,Stiig Markager,Brian K. Sorrell,Martyn Tranter,Christopher B. Trivedi,Matthias Winkel,Alexandre M. Anesio +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the impacts of algal pigment and community composition on surface darkening were investigated on three glaciers in Southeast Greenland, showing that algal biomass and pigments impacted chromophoric dissolved organic matter concentrations.

Reaching a Double-Digit Dielectric Constant with Fullerene Derivatives
Sylvia Rousseva,Hugo den Besten,Felien S. van Kooij,Eva L. Doting,Nutifafa Y. Doumon,Evgenia Douvogianni,L. Jan Anton Koster,Jan C. Hummelen +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the optical and electronic properties of a homologous series of fullerene derivatives with high dielectric constant (eᵣ) were studied. But the effect of the dielectoric constant on the electronic and optoelectronic properties of materials remains unclear due to the scarcity of known organic semiconductors with an eᵣ value higher than 6.

The exometabolome of microbial communities inhabiting bare ice surfaces on the southern Greenland Ice Sheet.
Eva L. Doting,M. B. Jensen,Elisa K Peter,Lea Ellegaard-Jensen,Martyn Tranter,Liane G. Benning,Martin Hansen,Alexandre M. Anesio +7 more
TL;DR: A high-resolution mass spectrometry-based untargeted metabolomics workflow is used to identify metabolites in the exometabolome of microbial blooms on the surface of the southern tip of the Greenland Ice Sheet, finding riboflavin, lumichrome, tryptophan, and azelaic acid have demonstrated roles in microbe-microbe interactions in other ecosystems and should be tested for potential roles in the development of microbial blooms on bare ice surfaces.
