Lactobacillus crispatus Limits Bladder Uropathogenic E. coli Infection by Triggering a Host Type I Interferon Response
Chang-Hyun Song,Young Ho Kim,Manisha Naskar,Byron W. Hayes,Mathew A Abraham,Joo-Hwan Noh,G. Suk,Min Jung Kim,Kyu Sang Cho,Mi-Yee Shin,Eun-Jin Lee,Soman N. Abraham,Hae Woong Choi +12 more
TL;DR: It is reported that in contrast to healthy women, female patients experiencing recurrent UTIs have a bladder population of Lactobacilli that is markedly reduced, suggesting that components of the endogenous microflora can have therapeutic effects against UTIs.

Manganese Transporter Proteins in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium
Nakyeong Ha,Eun-Jin Lee +1 more
TL;DR: Five transporters of manganese have been identified in Salmonella and it has been shown that yiiP expression is not dependent on MntS, but there might be additional transporters that need to be identified.

Membrane-Bound Protease FtsH Protects PhoP from the Proteolysis by Cytoplasmic ClpAP Protease in Salmonella Typhimurium.
TL;DR: In this article , an unexpected role of the FtsH protease protecting PhoP proteolysis from cytoplasmic ClpAP protease is reported, which suggests that Ftsh is required for normal activation of PhOP transcription factor.

ClC Chloride Channels in Gram-Negative Bacteria and Its Role in the Acid Resistance Systems.
TL;DR: In this paper , the structure and function of the prokaryotic ClC chloride antiporter of amino acid-mediated acid resistance system is discussed, which is a member of the ClC channel family and eliminates negatively charged intracellular chloride ions to avoid inner membrane hyperpolarization as an electrical shunt of the acid resistance systems.
