Current-voltage characteristics of polymer light-emitting diodes
Esther M. Conwell,M. W. Wu +1 more
- 01 Jan 1997
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors fit I vs. V for electron or hole conduction in some poly(p-phenylene vinylene), PPV, derivatives with ohmic contacts for reasonable values of the parameters involved.

Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy of Thin Polymer Films
H. A. Mizes,K.-G. Loh,R. J. D. Miller,Esther M. Conwell,Georgia A. Arbuckle,N. Theophilou,Alan G. MacDiarmid,B.-R. Hsieh +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors have shown that the fibrils of the free side of iodine doped polystyrene are flat to within less than 10 A. They also showed that the fluctuations in the surface conductivity of polyacetylene and the thermally induced motion of the polymer side groups limit the potential of these techniques to give atomic resolution.
1
Insulator-Metal Transition and Conduction Processes in Trans-Polyacetylene
TL;DR: In this paper, the Coulomb potential of the doping ions and solitons on other chains was calculated for a chain of stage-1 (16.7%) potassium-doped (CH)x and it was shown that the metallic state is obtained by adding to the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger Hamiltonian.
1
Photoinduced absorption of conducting polymer-C60 composites
Esther M. Conwell,Howard A. Mizes,Jerry Perlstein +2 more
- 08 Dec 1995
TL;DR: In this article, a Monte Carlo cooling algorithm was used to find the most probable position of C 60 in a channel formed by the alkoxy side chains, its center approximately 10 angstrom from that of the MEH-PPV backbone.
1
Stabilization of polarons in conjugated polymers due to finite conjugation lengths
Howard A. Mizes,Esther M. Conwell +1 more
- 27 Aug 1993
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the existence of chain endings and other conjugation breaks can stabilize the polaron in actual samples in trans-polyacetylene, t-PA, and poly(phenylene vinylene), PPV.
