Learning semantic scene models by trajectory analysis
Xiaogang Wang,Kinh Tieu,Eric Grimson +2 more
- 07 May 2006
TL;DR: An unsupervised learning framework to segment a scene into semantic regions and to build semantic scene models from long-term observations of moving objects in the scene is described and novel clustering algorithms which use both similarity and comparison confidence are introduced.
Mutual information in coupled multi-shape model for medical image segmentation
TL;DR: Extensions which improve the performance of the shape-based deformable active contour model presented earlier in [IEEE Conf. Comput. Vision Pattern Recog. 1 (2001) 463] for medical image segmentation are presented.

2D-3D rigid registration of X-ray fluoroscopy and CT images using mutual information and sparsely sampled histogram estimators
Lilla Zöllei,Eric Grimson,A. Norbash,William M. Wells +3 more
- 01 Dec 2001
TL;DR: A mutual information-based registration algorithm is proposed which establishes the proper alignment via a stochastic gradient ascent strategy and could lead to potential speedup over existing registration procedures and deriving the gradient estimates required by the maximization procedure.
A genetic algorithm for the topology correction of cortical surfaces
Florent Ségonne,Eric Grimson,Bruce Fischl +2 more
- 10 Jul 2005
TL;DR: A technique to accurately correct the spherical topology of cortical surfaces by constructing a mapping from the original surface onto the sphere to detect topological defects as minimal non-homeomorphic regions with only a few iterations.

Construction of Dependent Dirichlet Processes based on Poisson Processes
Dahua Lin,Eric Grimson,John W. Fisher +2 more
- 06 Dec 2010
TL;DR: A novel method that exploits the intrinsic relationship between Dirichlet and Poisson processes in order to create a Markov chain of Dirichlets suitable for use as a prior over evolving mixture models is presented.
