- 29 Aug 2017
TL;DR: In this paper, an adjustable cylindrical slumped glass optic has been used for figure correction after mounting and on-orbit, achieving 100% piezoelectric cell yield and employing lithographically patterned traces and anisotropic conductive film (ACF) connections.

Thickness distribution of sputtered films on curved substrates for adjustable x-ray optics
Nathan L. Bishop,Julian Walker,Casey T. DeRoo,Tianning Liu,Mohit Tendulkar,Vincenzo Cotroneo,Edward Hertz,Vladimir Kradinov,Eric D. Schwartz,Paul B. Reid,Thomas N. Jackson,Susan Trolier-McKinstry +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model of the film thickness distribution is derived based on the geometric properties of the sputter tool and the substrate, and film thicknesses deposited with a commercially available sputtering tool are measured with spectroscopic ellipsometry.
Thermal forming of glass substrates for adjustable optics (Conference Presentation)
Vincenzo Cotroneo,Ryan Allured,Casey T. DeRoo,Kenneth L. Gurski,Vanessa Marquez,Paul B. Reid,Eric D. Schwartz +6 more
- 05 Oct 2017
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the current status and most recent advances in the thermal forming activities at SAO, and the perspectives for the employment of these substrates for the adjustable X-Ray optics.

Julian Walker,Tianning Liu,Mohit Tendulkar,David N. Burrows,Casey T. DeRoo,Ryan Allured,Edward Hertz,Vincenzo Cotroneo,Paul B. Reid,Eric D. Schwartz,Thomas N. Jackson,Susan Trolier-McKinstry +11 more
- 29 Aug 2017
TL;DR: In this article, the cleaning of Corning Eagle XG glass substrates for thin shell X-ray mirrors by a three stage acid and solvent cleaning procedure before a 0.02 μm Ti adhesion layer and a 0 1 μm Pt bottom electrode layer were deposited using DC magnetron sputtering.

Progress in development of adjustable optics for x-ray astronomy
Vincenzo Cotroneo,Casey T. DeRoo,Thomas N. Jackson,Vladimir Kradinov,Tianning Liu,Vanessa Marquez,Paul B. Reid,Daniel A. Schwartz,Eric D. Schwartz,Mohit Tendulkar,Susan Trolier-McKinstry,Julian Walker +11 more
- 26 Oct 2018
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed an adaptive X-ray telescope using thin films of lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) deposited on the back of thermally formed thin substrates, which represents a potential solution to the challenging trade-off between high surface quality and low mass.
