Role of oxidative stress and insulin resistance in disease severity of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Emine Koroglu,Billur Canbakan,Kadri Atay,Ibrahim Hatemi,Murat Tuncer,Ahmet Dobrucali,Abdullah Sonsuz,İlhami Gültepe,Hakan Senturk +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that insulin resistance in NAFLD correlates with enhanced oxidative stress and Histopathological disease severity significantly correlated with oxidative stress parameters, and patients with IR may have increased risk for disease progression.

Apoptosis and Disease Severity is Associated with Insulin Resistance in Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.
Kadri Atay,Billur Canbakan,Emine Koroglu,Ibrahim Hatemi,Mustafa Canbakan,Nuray Kepil,Murat Tuncer,Hakan Senturk +7 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates that IR in NAFLD is associated with enhanced hepatocyte apoptosis and histopathologic disease severity, and indicates that NA FLD patients with IR may have increased risk for disease progression.

Low lipase levels as an independent marker of pancreatic cancer: a frequently neglected condition in clinical setting.
İlhami Gültepe,Metin Basaranoglu,Mehmet Zorlu,Abdulhalim Senyigit,Emine Zeynep Taşkale,Sibel Zaralı,Kadri Atay,Emine Koroglu +7 more
TL;DR: Low lipase levels close to zero may be an indication of pancreatic cancer and should not be underestimated in the clinical setting, however, large studies are warranted to delineate the exact diagnostic significance of such lowlipase levels.

Evaluation of non-invasive diagnostic methods as indicators of fibrosis in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
Kadri Atay,Billur Canbakan,Ozkan Alan,Emine Koroglu,Ibrahim Hatemi,Nuray Kepil,Ahmet Dobrucali,Mustafa Canbakan,Murat Tuncer,Abdullah Sonsuz,Hakan Senturk +10 more
TL;DR: None of the non-invasive tests used were independent factors for advanced fibrosis and it is obvious that studies performed with more reliable nonin invasive tests which would be used to detect or excludeAdvanced fibrosis are needed.
Five-year results of oral antiviral therapy in HBeAg-negative chronic Hepatitis B.
Kadri Atay,Ibrahim Hatemi,Billur Canbakan,Emine Koroglu,Emre Durcan,Berna Yurttas,İlhami Gültepe,Sebati Özdemir,Murat Tuncer,Abdullah Sonsuz +9 more
TL;DR: In HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B, baseline serum hepatitis B virus DNA levels exceeding 170,500 IU/mL, partial virologic response in the sixth month, and age of 41 years or more were independent predictors for virologics breakthrough.
