[131I]meta-iodobenzylguanidine and topotecan combination treatment of tumors expressing the noradrenaline transporter.
Anthony G. McCluskey,Marie Boyd,S. Ross,Emilio Cosimo,Anne Marie Clark,Wilson J. Angerson,Mark N. Gaze,Robert J. Mairs +7 more
TL;DR: The combination of topotecan and [131I]MIBG compared with either treatment alone gave rise to greater than additive DNA damage, clonogenic cell kill, and tumor growth delay, which were dependent on the scheduling of the two agents.

Inhibition of neuroblastoma-induced angiogenesis by fenretinide.
Domenico Ribatti,Giulio Alessandri,Manuela Baronio,Lizzia Raffaghello,Emilio Cosimo,Danilo Marimpietri,Paolo G. Montaldo,Giuseppe De Falco,Arnaldo Caruso,Angelo Vacca,Mirco Ponzoni +10 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that HPR exerts its antiangiogenic activity through both a direct effect on endothelial cell proliferative activity and an inhibitory effect on the responsivity of the endothelial cells to the proliferative stimuli mediated by angiogenic growth factors.

Targeted delivery system for antisense oligonucleotides: a novel experimental strategy for neuroblastoma treatment
Chiara Brignole,Gabriella Pagnan,Danilo Marimpietri,Emilio Cosimo,Theresa M. Allen,Mirco Ponzoni,Fabio Pastorino +6 more
TL;DR: Targeted formulations of antisense oligonucleotides for neuroectoderma antigen disialoganglioside GD(2) showed greater inhibition of cell proliferation than non-targeted formulations or free asODNs, and it was demonstrated that the inhibition was dependent on the down-modulation of c-myb protein expression.

Anti-GD2 monoclonal antibody immunotherapy: a promising strategy in the prevention of neuroblastoma relapse
Lizzia Raffaghello,Danilo Marimpietri,Gabriella Pagnan,Fabio Pastorino,Emilio Cosimo,Chiara Brignole,Mirco Ponzoni,Paolo G. Montaldo +7 more
TL;DR: The results strongly support the clinical use of anti-GD2 mAbs after first-line induction regimens in neuroblastoma, and suggest an involvement of granulocytes or a complement-mediated cytotoxicity towards NB cells.

In vitro and in vivo antitumor activity of liposomal Fenretinide targeted to human neuroblastoma.
Lizzia Raffaghello,Gabriella Pagnan,Fabio Pastorino,Emilio Cosimo,Chiara Brignole,Danilo Marimpietri,Paolo G. Montaldo,Claudia Gambini,Theresa M. Allen,Emil Bogenmann,Mirco Ponzoni +10 more
TL;DR: An in vitro potentiation of HPR effects on melanoma cells when the drug is incorporated into GD2‐targeted immunoliposomes (anti‐GD2‐SIL‐HPR) is reported and anti-GD2 liposomal HPR should receive clinical evaluation as adjuvant therapy of neuroblastoma.
