CRP evolution pattern in CPAP-treated obstructive sleep apnea patients. Does gender play a role?
Charalampos Mermigkis,Izolde Bouloukaki,Demetrios Mermigkis,Eleftherios M. Kallergis,Eleni Mavroudi,Georgios Varouchakis,Eleni G. Tzortzaki,Nikolaos M. Siafakas,Sophia E. Schiza +8 more
TL;DR: A delay in the normalization of C-reactive protein levels in females despite effective CPAP treatment is suggested, suggesting a time period of at least 6 months appeared to be required in women in order to reduce CRP levels and consequent cardiovascular risk.

A Dietary and Lifestyle Intervention Improves Treatment Adherence and Clinical Outcomes in Overweight and Obese Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Randomized, Controlled Trial
Izolde Bouloukaki,E. Daskalaki,Eleni Mavroudi,Violeta Moniaki,Sophia E. Schiza,Ioanna Tsiligianni +5 more
- 01 Aug 2023
TL;DR: Incorporating a dietary/lifestyle intervention with standard care yields superior PAP adherence, BMI, and BP measurements in contrast to standard care alone, emphasizing the advantages of dedicating more time and support within the MDG.

Prevalence and Characteristics of Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Overlap Syndrome
Michail Fanaridis,I. Bouloukaki,G. Stathakis,Paschalis Steiropoulos,Nikos Tzanakis,Violeta Moniaki,Eleni Mavroudi,Ioanna Tsiligianni,Sophia E. Schiza +8 more
- 25 Apr 2024
TL;DR: The data suggest that OVS is prevalent among OSA patients, with distinct clinical and PSG characteristics, which could be utilized as predictive factors for early identification and further evaluation of these patients towards desirable patient-reported outcomes.

PSG differences in sleepy versus non-sleepy obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients
Izolde Bouloukaki,Theofilis Vouis,Antonios Velidakis,Violeta Moniaki,Eleni Mavroudi,Giorgos Stathakis,Michail Fanaridis,Sophia E. Schiza +7 more
- 09 Sep 2023
TL;DR: This study investigates PSG differences between sleepy and non-sleepy OSA patients, finding distinct sleep architecture and OSA severity indices in each group, particularly in mild and severe OSA patients, which may explain the presence or absence of excessive daytime sleepiness.

Prevalence and predictors of Residual Sleepiness (RS) in Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) Patients Treated with Positive Airway Pressure (PAP)
I Bouloukaki,Michail Fanaridis,G. Stathakis,Christina Ermidou,Violeta Moniaki,Eleni Mavroudi,Sofia Schiza +6 more
- 04 Sep 2022
TL;DR: In this article , a logistic regression was used to analyze the factors associated with excessive daytime sleepiness (RS) in PAP-treated OSA patients and identify predictors associated with it.
