TL;DR: Frick et al. as discussed by the authors developed an end-use load profile (EULP) dataset for the U.S. building stock, which can help cities, states, and utilities understand the time-sensitive value of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resources.

Ceiling fan air speeds around desks and office partitions
Yunfei Gao,Yunfei Gao,Hui Zhang,Edward Arens,Elaina Present,Baisong Ning,Yongchao Zhai,Jovan Pantelic,Maohui Luo,Maohui Luo,Lei Zhao,Paul Raftery,Shichao Liu +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of table and workstation partitions on a room's generic air flow and comfort profiles were evaluated in a test room with a ceiling fan, where five anemometers mounted in a tree were used to sample a dense measurement grid of 7 rows and 6 columns.

Ceiling fans in commercial buildings: In situ airspeeds & practitioner experience
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted 13 interviews with architects, engineers, and facilities managers from California and around the country to compile common themes of experience of using ceiling fans in commercial buildings.

Detailed measured air speed distribution in four commercial buildings with ceiling fans
Maohui Luo,Hui Zhang,Paul Raftery,Linxuan Zhou,Linxuan Zhou,Thomas Parkinson,Edward Arens,Yingdong He,Elaina Present +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured air speeds across the occupied spaces at four heights while varying ceiling fan operation modes such as fan rotational speed, operating direction, and the number of operating fans.

Load-driven interactions between energy efficiency and demand response on regional grid scales
Brian F. Gerke,Cong Zhang,Samanvitha Murthy,Andrew Satchwell,Elaina Present,Henry Horsey,Eric Wilson,Andrew Parker,Andrew Speake,Rajendra Singh Adhikari,Mary Ann Piette +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors perform bottom-up modeling of the interactive effects between energy efficiency and demand response in buildings for three representative regions of the United States electricity grid and show that the overall effect is competition between EE and DR, but significant complementarity can also occur, especially when the EE portfolio includes controls measures.
