TL;DR: Children hospitalized for an extremity fracture suffered dramatic declines in physical and psychosocial well-being during the first 3 months postinjury; by 1 year postin injury, most children recovered; however, children with a tibia and/or fibula fracture still reported significantly poorer physical functioning.

TL;DR: Evidence is found that initial levels of physical and cognitive rest vary greatly in the days immediately following a first visit, and over subsequent weeks, but most patients were asymptomatic after 4 weeks from injury.
