An electrochemical cell structure has an electrical current-carrying structure which, at least in part, underlies an electrochemical reaction layer. The cell comprises an ion exchange membrane with a catalyst layer on each side thereof. The ion exchange membrane may comprise, for example, a proton exchange membrane. Some embodiments of the invention provide electrochemical cell layers which have a plurality of individual unit cells formed on a sheet of ion exchange membrane material.

A fuel cell configuration operable to provide a more uniform heat distribution within the fuel cell configuration is disclosed. A reactant gas, liquid or suspended solid (slurry) is circulated through the fuel cell configuration in such a manner that inherently hotter portions of the fuel cell are cooled. The more uniform heat distribution can enhance fuel cell life and operating characteristics.

This method for producing porous sintered aluminum includes: mixing aluminum powder with a sintering aid powder containing titanium to obtain a raw aluminum mixed powder; mixing the raw aluminum mixed powder with a water-soluble resin binder, water, and a plasticizer containing at least one selected from polyhydric alcohols, ethers, and esters to obtain a viscous composition; drying the viscous composition in a state where air bubbles are mixed therein to obtain a formed object prior to sintering; and heating the formed object prior to sintering in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, wherein when a temperature at which the raw aluminum mixed powder starts to melt is expressed as Tm (° C.), a temperature T (° C.) of the heating fulfills Tm−10 (° C.)≦T≦685 (° C.).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marking base material and a lamination base material using it which have transparency without loss of an original physical property in marking by irradiation of a laser beam, can subject to clear marking, and have excellent visibility and transparency without disappearing the marking semipermanently. SOLUTION: A marking base material 10 has a base material body 11 and a coating film 12 which is covered over a surface of the base material body 11. The coating film 12 is represented by TiNx Oy wherein 0.1<=x<=1.0, 0<=y<=1.9, contains a titanium suboxide powder 12a which is oxidized by the laser beam and changed from block to white and a binder 12b which comprises either one of a resin, silica or silicone, and contains the titanium suboxide powder 12a of 0.01 wt.%-2.0 wt.% when the binder 12b is 100 wt.%. The base material body 11 comprises either one of the resin, ceramics, metal or semiconductor.

[Means for Solving Problems] A pair of electrode sheet 100 a , 100 b , each having a plurality of fuel electrodes 110 a , 110 b or a plurality of oxidant electrodes 112 a , 112 b supported by a resin section 102 , are disposed on a single plane on the respective surfaces of a solid electrolyte membrane 105 to configure a plurality of unit cells. The fuel electrode and the oxidant electrode of the adjacent two unit cells existing on the respective surfaces of the solid electrolyte membrane are connected in series by using an electroconductive member penetrating the solid electrolyte membrane. Since the electroconductive member 108 extends along the stacking direction of the cell, no excess space is required to achieve the miniaturization of the fuel cell.
