Developments in the chemistry and band gap engineering of donor-acceptor substituted conjugated polymers
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present tools to manipulate and minimize the band gap of conjugated (co)polymers, and the effects of minimization of the bond length alternation and incorporation of donor-π-acceptor units are discussed in particular.

Redox States of Long Oligothiophenes: Two Polarons on a Single Chain
John A. E. H. van Haare,E.E. Havinga,Joost L. J. van Dongen,René A. J. Janssen,Jérôme Cornil,Jean-Luc Brédas +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the redox states of long oligothiophenes and showed that two isolated radical cations (polarons) exist simultaneously on a π-conjugated chain or do they coalesce into a single, doubly charged spinless (bipolaron) deformation.

pi-Dimers of end-capped oligopyrrole cation radicals
TL;DR: In two consecutive one-electron oxidations, oligopyrroles substituted with phenyl capping groups (PhPynPh, n = 2-4) can be oxidized reversibly to give stable cation radicals and dications as mentioned in this paper.
Well-Defined Oligo(pyrrole-2,5-diyl)s by the Ullmann Reaction
L. Groenendaal,H. W. I. Peerlings,J. L. J. van Dongen,E.E. Havinga,J.A.J.M. Vekemans,E. W. Meijer +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Ullmann coupling reaction was used to polymerize N-t-BOC-2,5-dibromopyrrole into well-defined oligo(pyrrole-2.5-diyl)s. After optimization of the reaction conditions, i.e. using 1 wt equiv of Cu-bronze in DMF at 100 "C for 1 h, oligomers up to 25 repeating pyrrole units are obtained.
