Purification of metal electroplating waste waters using zeolites
TL;DR: This mineral showed the same high sorption capacity values when used in the purification of metal electroplating waste waters, appearing, therefore, as most suitable to perform metal waste water purification processes.

Environmental, physical and structural characterisation of geopolymer matrixes synthesised from coal (co-)combustion fly ashes
E. Álvarez-Ayuso,Xavier Querol,F. Plana,Andrés Alastuey,Natalia Moreno,Maria Izquierdo,Oriol Font,Teresa Moreno,Sergi Díez,Enric Vázquez,Marilda Barra +10 more
TL;DR: It was found that synthesised geopolymer matrixes were only effective in the chemical immobilisation of a number of elements of environmental concern contained in fly ashes, reducing (especially for Ba), or maintaining their leachable contents after the geopolymisation process, but not for those elements present as oxyanions.

Immobilization of heavy metals in polluted soils by the addition of zeolitic material synthesized from coal fly ash.
Xavier Querol,Andrés Alastuey,Natalia Moreno,E. Álvarez-Ayuso,Antonio García-Sánchez,Jordi Cama,Carles Ayora,Mariano Simón +7 more
TL;DR: The results show that the zeolitic material considerably decreases the leaching of Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, and Zn, and the sorption of metals in soil clay minerals (illite) proved to be the main cause contributing to the immobilization of these pollutants.

Removal of cadmium from aqueous solutions by palygorskite.
TL;DR: The sorption characteristics of palygorskite with respect to cadmium were studied, showing the effectiveness of this mineral to purify down to the legal limit of waste moderate volumes of Cd-containing solutions with a similar concentration to those mostly found in the upper range of concentrations usually present in industrial wastewaters.

Study of arsenopyrite weathering products in mine wastes from abandoned tungsten and tin exploitations
A. Murciego,E. Álvarez-Ayuso,E. Pellitero,Ma. A. Rodriguez,Antonio García-Sánchez,Aitana Tamayo,J. A. Rubio,Fausto Rubio,J. Rubin +8 more
TL;DR: The low solubility of scorodite, the relatively low content of AFA and the formation of compounds of variable charge, mostly of amorphous nature, with high capacity to adsorb As attenuate importantly the dispersion of this element into the environment from these arsenopyrite-bearing wastes.
