Spontaneous magnetic fields in laser-produced plasmas.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors explain the spontaneous generation of magnetic fields in a laser-produced plasma using thermoelectric currents associated with large temperature gradients near the target, using a variety of targets and background pressures.

Soft x-ray lasing in neonlike germanium and copper plasmas.
TL;DR: Soft x-ray 3p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}3s lasing in neonlike germanium and copper in the wavelength interval of 195 to 285 A\r{} is observed for the first time, with gain coefficients ranging from 1.7 to 4.1 ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\mathrm{\ensure Math{-}}1}$, the higher gain withgermanium.

The Nike KrF laser facility: Performance and initial target experiments
S. P. Obenschain,Stephen E. Bodner,Denis Colombant,K.A. Gerber,Robert Lehmberg,E. A. McLean,A. N. Mostovych,M. S. Pronko,C. J. Pawley,Andrew J. Schmitt,John D. Sethian,Victor Serlin,J. A. Stamper,C. A. Sullivan,Jill P. Dahlburg,John H. Gardner,Y. Chan,A. V. Deniz,J. Hardgrove,T. Lehecka,M. Klapisch +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the performance of the Nike laser in producing uniform illumination and its performance in correspondingly uniform acceleration of targets, and show that the Nike has spatially uniform ablation pressures (Δp/p < 2%).

Large-Larmor-radius interchange instability
Barrett H. Ripin,E. A. McLean,Charles Manka,C. J. Pawley,J. A. Stamper,T. A. Peyser,A. N. Mostovych,Jacob Grun,A.B. Hassam,Joseph Huba +9 more
TL;DR: The instability of a strong plasma/magnetic field interchange Rayleigh-Taylor instability in the limit of large ion Larmor radius undergoes rapid linear growth culminating in free-streaming flute tips.

Preheat Studies for Foils Accelerated by Ablation due to Laser Irradiation
E. A. McLean,Steven H. Gold,J. A. Stamper,Robert R. Whitlock,Hans R. Griem,S. P. Obenschain,Barrett H. Ripin,Stephen E. Bodner,M. J. Herbst,S. J. Gitomer,Maurice Keith Matzen +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the complete time history of the rear surface temperatures has been determined, and the energy transport mechanisms that contribute to the heating have been evaluated for planar Al foils.
