TL;DR: Amrute et al. as mentioned in this paper performed single-nucleus RNA sequencing from patients with heart failure who recovered systolic function after left ventricular assist device implantation, patients who did not recover and non-diseased donors.

TL;DR: It is observed that recovered cardiomyocytes do not revert to a normal state, and instead, retain transcriptional signatures observed in heart failure, suggesting that cardiac recovery is a unique biological state and identifies RUNX1 as a possible therapeutic target to facilitate cardiac recovery.
