TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper evaluated the safety and efficacy of VCS for relieving adverse symptoms caused by Lugol iodine staining and found that VCS spray alleviated acute acid regurgitation or heartburn (33% vs 15%, P =.017) and late retrosternal discomfort or pain (21% vs 9%, P=.027).

TL;DR: In this article, an application of a vitamin C as a drug for eliminating irritation of upper gastrointestinal tract iodine staining to the mucosa has been described, and the application overcomes the defect that the Lugol's iodine solution spraying on the pigment endoscope has strong irritancy and toxicity to the esophagus and the gastric mucosa.
