Deploying low-power nodes (LPNs) overlaid with Macro cells is a promising strategy to improve the coverage and capacity of cellular systems. Meanwhile, cell range expansion (CRE) scheme is proposed to select a proper serving base station (BS) for users between Macro eNodeBs and LPNs, and then offloading of traffic from Macro cell is made. In this paper, first, we introduce the LPNs deployment strategy and its activation criteria in the heterogeneous system. Then, a quality of experience (QoE)-based CRE scheme to adjust the coverage area of LPNs adaptively is proposed. Different from the existing CRE schemes, the QoE values for different users with different services are considered when the users try to select an appropriate serving BS. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can improve cell edge user experience for various services as well as overall system performance.

A QoE-based cell range expansion scheme in heterogeneous cellular networks

In this paper, a two-hop MIMO-OFDM relay system with a decode-and-forward (DF) relay is considered, in which each terminal is equipped with multiple antennas. With the goal of maximizing the instantaneous capacity, a suboptimal power allocation algorithm under the total transmit power constraint is proposed. Since the independence of fading channel during each hop, subcarrier pairing strategy is given to further improve the system capacity. The simulation results show that the proposed suboptimal power allocation algorithm in this paper achieves a higher capacity than the uniform power allocation, and that subcarrier paring is an effective way to enhance the system capacity.

Adaptive Power Allocation for Decode-and-Forward MIMO-OFDM Relay System

This paper considers the power allocation (PA) problem for three-node decode-and-forward (DF) relay communication systems, where the aggregate transmit power constraint is imposed on the source and the relay and the optimization target is to maximize the system's instantaneous information rate. Since the relay is equipped with multiple antennas, the receiver and transmitter beamforming strategies are generally adopted. In this paper, we start by proposing a closed-form solution for the frequency-flat (FF) fading environment, then give a bisection algorithm with low complexity to obtain an optimal solution for the frequency-selective (FS) fading scenario. Finally, simulations validate the proposed methods.

On the Joint Optimal Power Allocation for DF Relaying and Beamforming Communication Systems

Quality of service aware admission control in cognitive device-to-device network

This paper deals with joint power allocation (PA) for decode-and-forward (DF) two-hop MIMO relay links with hybrid power constraints. In order to maximize the instantaneous information rate of each hop, we propose an optimal PA scheme via a primal--dual algorithm. Then, we jointly allocate the power between the source and the relay to improve the power efficiency further. The simulations will validate the proposed scheme and show that, compared with the traditional uniform PA, our scheme outperforms the counterpart.

Joint Power Allocation for DF MIMO Relay Links with Hybrid Power Constraints

In this paper, the capacity of MIMO relay channel with decode and forward (DF) scheme is investigated, where each node within the system quipped with multiple antennas and located in an environment with distance-dependent path loss. In order to achieve the maximum capacity of the system, the optimal power allocation (OPA) among the nodes and the transmit antennas is analyzed under the assumption that relay node knows all channels instantaneous state information (CSI), and an implement algorithm of the OPA is derived. Numerical results demonstrate that adopting the proposed power allocation algorithm, the capacity of MIMO relay channel with DF relay scheme can be significantly improved.

Optimum Power Allocation Algorithm for MIMO Relay Channel

A utility function that reflects the total channel utility rate is formulated based on the interference complementary under the centralized singular channel wireless networks. Furthermore the target is transformed into a constrained convex optimization, and the optimization problem achieves the efficient resource allocation under interior-point method. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves better accuracy and less iteration time than genetic algorithm.

An Improved Resource Allocation Method Based on Convex Optimization in Centralized Wireless Network

In this paper, the problem of power allocation in the amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative network is investigated based on the achievable maximum signal-to-noise ratio at the destination node. With assumptions that the source node has the perfect channel state information, optimal power allocation algorithms are developed for the relay networks under two scenarios: the full cooperative scheme with direct transmission (DT) from source node to destination node and relay cooperative scheme without DT. With the proposed optimal power allocation algorithm, simulation results demonstrate that the performance of AF relay networks can be significantly improved.
