In this paper, we report a high-resolution and precision acceleration sensor network with potential large sensing capacity, which is based on distributed Bragg reflector fiber lasers. To start with, a transducer based on a T-shaped cantilever beam and an adjustable bearing is theoretically designed and experimentally employed to achieve high sensitivity and wideband frequency response. Second, the beat frequency interrogation system that utilizes super-heterodyne receiver and digital orthogonal phase identifying technology is developed to improve the resolution of the sensors. In addition, assisted with the wavelength/time division multiplexing technology, hundreds of sensing units could be potentially multiplexed in the prototype system. A proof-of-concept sensing network with three acceleration sensor units is established for experimental validation. The sensor network demonstrates a sensitivity of 1.16064 GHz/g with a flat frequency response region from 20 to 200 Hz, corresponding to a noise equivalent acceleration of $\text{17.99}\,{\text{ng/}}\surd {\rm{Hz}}$ at 90 Hz. In particular, the measurement precision of the prototype system has been calibrated as high as 1.305 μ g. The proposed acceleration sensor network could benefit potential applications in smart unmanned platforms and seismic monitoring.

DBR Fiber Laser Based High-Resolution Accelerometer Network

A Michelson interferometer (MI) composite cavity fiber laser sensing system based on radio frequency (RF) interrogation is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The system down-converts the traditional MI light frequency detection to RF detection, which improves the stability of the system. The optic fiber MI is placed in the laser resonator to form a composite cavity structure, which greatly improves the sensitivity of beat frequency signal demodulation.

Micro-credentials in Malaysian higher education: a comprehensive case study approach

The implementation of strategic priorities for the development of education in Russia requires the involvement of technopark resources in the educational process of pedagogical universities. The relevance of the problem of scientific and methodological support for the use of these resources in the professional training of future teachers is determined by the fact that practical tasks for them do not sufficiently contain the pedagogical component. The article presents the results of a study aimed at developing and substantiating a scientific and methodological solution to strengthen the pedagogical focus of practical tasks based on technopark resources. The methodology of the study is based on the system and activity approaches, which consider student’s professional training at a pedagogical university in all the diversity of interrelations of subjects, setting the need to include the students in solving pedagogical tasks in any type of professional training. The authors propose a scientific and methodological solution for strengthening the pedagogical focus of practical tasks based on technopark resources, including: (1) a format for task presentation taking into account the interactions of subjects of the educational process; (2) a model of a methodological construct that ensures the universality of task development; and (3) a procedure for their development and implementation. The significant theoretical results of the study include the possibilities of successive complication of practical tasks and their flexible integration into the educational process, as well as the development of universal pedagogical competences in students through the use of the proposed scientific and methodological solution in professional training. This solution to the stated problem can optimize the teamwork of teachers of different academic disciplines and technopark staff, streamline the methodological support for the use of its resources and increase the educational motivation of future teachers. Feedback from the professional community indicates the demand for the proposed solution and the prospects for further development.

Strengthening the Pedagogical Focus of Practical Tasks Based on Technopark Resources for Future Teachers

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed teaching patterns, distance education is becoming an important educational mode in all kinds of schools. This is an opportunity for Open Universities, which mainly focus on distance and open education, but at the same time, Open Universities are also facing unprecedented challenges. In the present situation, distance education is no longer the unique feature of Open Universities, it is necessary for the Open University of China to innovate teaching to meet diverse learning needs. Harnessing Micro-Credentials to Innovate Teaching in the Open University of China: Opportunities and Challenges

In this paper, we propose our observation, analysis, and alleviation method of the beat frequency fluctuation in short-cavity dual-polarization distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) fiber grating laser sensor in time and frequency domain. According to our observation, beat frequency fluctuation varies from 8 to 800 kHz under different pump power. Research shows frequency domain beat signal linewidth broadening aggravates beat frequency fluctuation due to time domain irregular self-pulsation effect. By introducing self-injection into laser cavity as an auxiliary pump laser with a circulator, self-pulsation effect in DBR fiber laser sensor can be greatly suppressed, resulting in the compression of frequency domain beat signal linewidth as well as the stabilization of beat frequency fluctuation. Experimental results demonstrate that beat frequency fluctuation can be greatly reduced from 800 to 8 kHz within 1 h through self-injection, which is significant for high-accurate sensing.
