The role of monocytes-macrophages in vasculogenesis in multiple myeloma.
Domenico Ribatti,Angelo Vacca +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that when bone marrow macrophages from MM patients are exposed to vascular endothelial growth factor and fibroblast growth factor-2, which are major angiogenic cytokines secreted by plasma cells, and present in the bone marrow microenvironment at fourto five-fold higher levels than in peripheral blood, they transform into cells functionally and phenotypically similar to paired MM endothelial cells,
Molecular targeting agents associated with transarterial chemoembolization or radiofrequency ablation in hepatocarcinoma treatment
Girolamo Ranieri,Ilaria Marech,Vito Lorusso,Veronica Goffredo,Angelo Paradiso,Domenico Ribatti,Cosmo Damiano Gadaleta +6 more
TL;DR: In advanced HCC, anti-angiogenic therapy and tyrosine kinases inhibitors showed potential clinical benefit and a number of clinical studies are ongoing testing these agents in combination with TACE or RFA.

Bone Marrow CX3CL1/Fractalkine is a New Player of the Pro-Angiogenic Microenvironment in Multiple Myeloma Patients
Valentina Marchica,Denise Toscani,Anna Corcione,Marina Bolzoni,Paola Storti,Rosanna Vescovini,Elisa Ferretti,Benedetta Dalla Palma,Emanuela Vicario,Fabrizio Accardi,Cristina Mancini,Eugenia Martella,Domenico Ribatti,Angelo Vacca,Vito Pistoia,Nicola Giuliani +15 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that CX3CL1, present at a high level in the BM of MM patients, is a new player of the MM microenvironment involved in MM-induced angiogenesis.

Fenretinide as an anti-angiogenic agent in neuroblastoma.
Domenico Ribatti,Lizzia Raffaghello,Danilo Marimpietri,Emilio Cosimo,P Giuseppe Montaldo,Beatrice Nico,Angelo Vacca,Mirco Ponzoni +7 more
TL;DR: This mini-review summarizes the literature and experimental data concerning the use of anti-angiogenic molecules, such as TNP-470 and fenretinide, in neuroblastoma treatment.

Markers of increased angiogenesis and their correlation with biological parameters identifying high-risk patients in early B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia
Stefano Molica,Giovanna Cutrona,Gaetano Vitelli,Rosanna Mirabelli,Matteo Molica,Giovanna Digiesi,Domenico Ribatti,Manlio Ferrarini,Angelo Vacca +8 more
TL;DR: Studies to determine how to integrate variables reflecting increased angiogenesis with other prognostic markers such as CD38, ZAP-70, IgV(H) status and cytogenetic abnormalities are needed to optimize risk stratification for individual patients are needed.
